Pretty good. I give it like an 8 out of 10. I hope it's part of an album!

The only thing I don't like is the nasal sound of his vocal. At 2:40 he finally sings in his natural register, and it lasts about 20 seconds. More of that would be great.

When I think about the chorus (hook), I feel like I should be offended...but when I listen to the song I just makes me smile biggrin

I heart this song!! I just can't seem to help myself. It is so fun!!

This is headed in an off-topic (and likely bad) direction.

Let's get back to the song folks.

Rock, organic sound = good. Teenage boy vocals = not so much. Overall = pretty good.

This is Prince having fun rockin out....catchy lyrics driving drums...

Has a garage band sound yet a 60's rock feel to it some how...

diggin it. Much Better than "Guitar" imo.

i like the live sound of it and i think this is the way to go for prince...but just sounds like another throwaway song though...sounds like he is lacking a bit of creativity....but as i said...i like the real sound of it..

If anyone wants to play it, the chords I'm hearing are:

VERSE

B-B-B-B

B-B-A-B

CHORUS

E-A-B

Listen to this through a proper sound system (even though it's not lossless).

Bart is LOVING this, and we may soon see Bart's positive commentary on this song, assuming he listened to it through a proper sound system.

I may also venture even further with this:

Prince may have well played all parts on this.

My take on this?

Prince NAILED it hard. I enjoy all musical sides of Prince. N.E.W.S. is amazing, and I'm musically enriched and qualified.

This is Prince Punk. This is when he gets raw... rocking with a neverending energy that all should experience, but tragically, few do.

So, needless to say... I'm diggin' it Big Time.

I just need to hear the lossless version, along with a collection of songs (or pieces), formerly known as an "album"... preferably in physical format, either CD or vinyl.

That's all.

Holy moley, maybe Prince read the thread about how the school DJ couldn't get Prince played on his punk rock radio show and said, "Huh! I'll show 'em what punk is all about!"

LOL, doubtful but you're right - this is punk and that guy ought to play the bejeezus out of this on his radio station.

You mean the one after the second chorus?

Sounds quite simple, really.

D - D# - A - D# (repeated)

I don't have a guitar near me at the moment, so I'm doing this by ear, but I'm quite certain it's that.

The prettiest and easiest way to play the riff is probably playing the D and the D# on the G-string and the A on the H-string.

I would have figured out the Bb sooner or later, LOL. Well, maybe.

They posted the video at NY Magazine...

Prince Made You a ‘Screwdriver’

US singer and musician Prince (born Prince Rogers Nelson) performs on stage at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, outside Paris, on June 30, 2011.

Not the kind with alcohol (Oh, thank God, thought a million people who still haven't gotten over that one OJ-and-vodka-fueled night in college) — the kind with music. "Screwdriver" is the title of Prince's peppy new song, which is now available, complete with a half-lyric, half-live-performance video, on his website. New music + Billboard cover + surprise Minneapolis shows has to = new album, right? Sorry if we jinxed that.

Huffingtonpost is posting it, so I expect it to go big. I smell hit on this one.

A really fun song, lyrics goofy like most fun pop/punk. Certainly better than much on Green Day's new 3 album set.

Doesn't rock as hard as it could but it is a very decent song. Certainly betta than shitar.

Listen to it a few times really loud. Sticks in the ear.

Billboard top ten, I'd bet.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

ALLMACK

This might be a song that will erupt in concert. I hope. Studio it sounds a bit like "I Like it There," but this band has nowhere near the power - the drumming power alone is not in the same zip code. Clearly, that's what P wants - dude knows drums - this is just one person's view.

Catchy song, but I think he could have left it to stand on its own rather than put the ribbons and bows on at the end. Kiss keeps it simple and this song should be a minute shorter.

The video is ok, but I don't know that the lyrics are good enough for such scrutiny!

No song with that kind of melody is going to have change-the-world lyrics.

BUT, how can you not headbang headbang headbang the line "We smash guitars and shatter glass"?!?!?!

But overall, the lyrics would be fine if they were not spotlighted like that.
