C-Note question.

Just seen an article posted on twitter ( mentioned article )and it got me thinking as the C-Note album tracks (except for one) are names of places, do you think that the fact that earth creates a C-note was the reason for the title?

Apologies if this has been previously discussed.

cnote is a nickname for a hundred dollar bill, the price of the membership that year when members of npgmc were complaining about what they got for their money

Yes, I think it's the $100 bill thing, most def. But tell us about the earth C-note thing - I have no idea what that is.

Soundchecks played in the city that each track was named for. Not sure where Emtpy Room was played and can't be arsed googling it.

C-Note and Xpectation are the albums that when a song pops up on shuffle, I think "what is this? It's great!"

C-Note is fine, but with it, Xpectation, N.E.W.S., and half of Rainbow Children, it was all too samey-sounding in that period. 10 years later, in smaller chunks, it works much better.

Check the link posted by the op. The eart makes a sound as it moves:

If we imagine a piano keyboard without limitation, the sound of the earth is a "C sharp" placed 29 octaves below middle C (about 4.7 meters left of the piano bench)

It would be pretty awesome if the music played on C-note is all in C-sharp. But I don't think it is. It was really a jab at the fans complaining they basically waited an entire year to receive at least 4 new Prince albums but then only got a box set for $100 lol

Several years ago, I created my own CD combining the Xpectation and C-Note, leaving out Empty Room from C-Note, as it doesn't fit the jazz fusion vibe of the rest of the music. I call it Xpedition, and I find it an impressive instrumental companion piece to The Rainbow Children, its rough contemporary. cool

The version of Empty Room is simply stunning nod

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
