Ah.

Danke Schön!

Join Music blogger "Dr. Funkenberry" & uber-Prince fan Seth Everett as they discuss what Prince might be doing in 2013.

Wrong timezone for me. Or will they have an option to view the discussion later?

Prince should work more careful. I think the sound design of his latest releases is quite weak. Sounds like he’s producing with presets only. Today I drove in my car and gave 2 CDs a spin : new Bruno Mars & 20Ten …on more time ! Bruno Mars is pretty damn good produced. Parts of the song « Treasure » and maybe 2,3 other songs made me think about how it would sound if Prince would appear on one of those tracks and tear the roof off (check Treasure). Overall Unorthodox Jukebox is boring mainstream stuff to me. (Frank Ocean has also nice sound ideas…)

...princey...no? haha

Compared to this major releases 20Ten sounds pretty bad produced to me (maybe I’m wrong…tell me). Prince’s guitar sound is the only thing i get excited about. The synthesizers are often damn crappy sounding… just cheap (programmed drums too!) !

I like the addition of Donna Grantis. It gives some rawness back to the Prince sound (btw her album is pretty cool production and sound… i feel that !) But he should maybe better call Bobby Sparks to fix that synth and keyboard problem… ! smile

Bambi rehearsal is my fav. I like that « new » , « raw » style of P ! Go on ! The BIG difference between Frank, Bruno, Lana, Coldplay,.... and Prince: Prince ist the master in the Pop industry when it comes to the skills as a musician! That made his music unique and much more interesting than the rest in that genre... for me!

ROCK ON Prince! Fits so good to you!

So the new album better be raw, wild, experimental and very funky. And/Or have extreme interesting production techniques. Otherwise I am not interested anymore, I'm afraid. Prince's albums have been too safe/MOR for my taste for a long time now, bar one or two songs on each album maybe. And the lyrics are mostly horrible or uninteresting these days.

... exactly!

This year, I just want Prince to:

  1. Make the album he wants to make. I'll even buy it (if he'll make it available in this tiny, obscure country known as CANADA).
  2. See sig.

dJJ

I like it raw, wild and intense.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

that pic is GORGEOUS and COOL! probably the best I've seen since 2006

and, as for the so-called "promises" I expect a correctly DISTRIBUTED album (will I be able to get a physical copy this time, please?) and a real world tour (and by "real world tour" I mean a REAL WORLD TOUR, nicely promoted)

am I asking too much??? PROBABLY

we'll see, good news anyway

Bowie and Prince are BACK cool
