Getting baked to Prince

I personally like sparking one up and listening to Around The World In A Day on vinyl.... WOW!

Or if i'm in a more mellow state; the Truth (his most underrated album in my opinion).

So, for those who indulge, what would you consider to be Prince's most stoner-friendly album (you're favourite album to get baked to)?

While we're here, if you were to make a Prince 'stoner' compilition album, what songs would you pick?

I'm gonna need time to make my list, so I'll let you guys start! biggrin

Believe it or not I'm split-eyed and listening to The Ladder right now, nope, hold on, it's gone into Temptation. There's one in the ashtray ready to go and one still on the burn.

I've never been to the Norfolk Broads. Never sailed the Mississippi. Oldtimers is a dream come true. I can't pick a tune. In my medical notes it says I'm a herbivore. I'm constantly baked. I'm a Baker.

I'll have a go;

Dotty P.

It.

Starfish & Sloppy.

Alright, hands up, I've got SOTT on and as I've said already, seven in the cupboard, two in the butterfly wellies and I gotta get outski maing. I wasn't even looking at his neck.

Motherless Child.

ATCLUINAnywhere.

Joy In Repetition.

Superfunky.

The Ride.

2 pints of milk.

Don't Play Me.

Hot thing - Hot water bottle.

God 12" instrumental at 33/-8

I could never take the place of some ham, cheese, red onion, Lettuce and salad cream, Live.

Comfy socks. 12" if they don't have those German/Chinese ones, Wan Size Fitz Alle.

600hps Lumen Balloons, (Big as they've got)

Shockadelicarbonfilter.

Rizzlapoppagoodun.

Head. Live.

New Morning, 1987.

Any album from the classic album period (Dirty Mind to Lovesexy). The "stoner friendliness" seems to increase from album to album during that run. shrug

I'm 40 years old now, and have not indulged since high school. But let me tell you, me and my cohort in Prince freakdom back in high school used to smoke and exclusively listen to The Electrifying Mojo on the radio in Detroit. Now that was something!

Pre internet/MP3 days--You had tapes or radio in your car. Mojo would play not just an eclectic mix of awesome auditory experiences, but would often play Prince song after Prince song. He played the heck out of 17 Days, The Dance Electric and Screams of Passion. So I'd have to say, those songs hold a special place in my heart, as to reminding me of my own "Days of Wild."

I have Paddock Farm lined up but no ingredients!!! I used to really like the extended versions...LGC, LRC, Kiss, Partyman Video, Theives extended etc, or what B-sides I had in the days before the internet.

I don't think much of prince's music is that stoney, but plenty is, and for different reasons.

Parade jumps out as the most obviously stoney sounding record, from the echoes of the starting drumbeats through the last sad notes of Sometimes it snows...

Lovesexy has a million layers and a thread of concept/story that can be embellished in a certain mindset. Add the evil twin the Black Album for good measure.

Emancipation was an album that I learned to love partially through bong rips. Given the premise that it is supposed to be perfect, your job is to take this half ounce and countless three hour sessions to try to figure out why. I discovered that the answer comes early, in the last minute of Jam of the Year.

Enter The Rainbow Children. Taking us back to the overtly psychedelic sounds of yesteryear, this album may not change your life, but it may inspire laughing fits. Listen at your own risk, but I found myself moved to sing "in the name of the father, in the name of the son" like some common church goer. Powerful green, powerful green.

the undertaker, the war, and hallucination rain are some options. all 3 of those are, in part, prince trying to do drugged out songs, and he & the band succeeded.

That works for me cool

The production on DM is so crisp. Its almost visual in a way. And hearing the rhythm guitar on 'Uptown" through headphones is revelatory!

I completely forgot about The Undertaker... I used to love getting stoned to that album.

Don't know about you guys but I also love listening to Prince's instrumental works when I'm stoned, ie N.E.W.S. and Xenophobia (NOT Kamasutra though).

I hear the Madhouse albums are meant to be FANTASTIC! I haven't heard any of them though...

Where's your nearest grass airfield and do you own a torch?

I could prolly do with vaping, my lungs have had it. Do you go through more or less gear since ya swapped? I love me joints too much to give em up.

Watch out for old Elsie, I've heard she's a right dirty scrubber. wink

that was me not too long ago. now i wouldn't have one thrown at me mate.

i've smoked tabs since i was 11 or 12. joints since my teens. been getting stabbing sensations in me lungs for 10 years n i knew it weren't gonna get any better.

i'm smoking miles less now cos i don't get any cravings, it's the nicoteen that's addictive, not weed. my sense of smell and taste have gone through the roof, joints smell manky. i've gone from getting through half to a full 'un a week to a henry or 2.

no pains anymore, i'm getting more stoned now than ever and my lungs feel the size of inflated aldi carrier bags. they're lifesavers these vapourisers, especially the volcano. you get what ye pays for. voorsprung durch teknik as they say in adverts.

don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....
