I hate those mixes, this label...Why don't Prince releases it through NPG, why no b-side (as in the past), why no album??? Why is he hiding behind thos glasses that remind me the bea sad utiful era of When Doves Cry? Prince is really dead, he was a huge star with fantastic songs, and now I don't understand this... mad

I agree with Ramz. I am starting to think the guy is done. I am a pretty positive guy and have OPEN ears whenever the guy puts out something new. RnRLA is ok...but no way near what he is capable of. One just needs to go back to Lotusflower where he hinted that he still has the goods. But right now the passion is no longer there...the creativity is dry. He doesn't care enough to market or support his new stuff. Albums? why bother if you cant even get a single out in a decent way and it sounds as plastic and souless as his last few tunes have. To me, he seems like he really doesn't give a crap anymore...totally coasting.

Oh lawd, the CD isn't even out yet and people are already whining about it.

"Why didn't Prince do exactly what I wanted him to do exactly when I wanted him to do it? Why Why Why?"

This company promised a CD single with remixes on November 19th. Seeing that it's only the 2nd, and yall have only heard one of the songs, just chill out.

I'm not defending the guy, he's put out some shit, and he's promised a lot of things that never materialized, but judging his music before you've heard it ain't cool.

BTW, people have been saying Prince is done for years. If his latest stuff doesn't float your boat, don't listen to it.

whatever!! they try to do the work! Prince gave the track to them and they will work there asses off to make it a sucsess! face one thing: they make a release as a very smal independent label euro-wide! and i promise you, when they get the hole album it will be no. 5 in german charts! because they work professional!

i dont need those house-remixes too BUT thats the price PRINCE HAVE TO PAY! those guys are a house label - simple as that. you dont have to listen to those remixes!

The original release was slated for the 2nd, hence the thread asking where it was.

Sorry, but the german radio stations already playing the mixes!
We have a very big dance station here, sunshine-live, that is
playing it, and the regular single is on many playlists smile.
So here in germany and switzerland, where the label is releasing the single,
we already have a radio hit single!

His first real radio hit since The most beautiful girl...
Although Gold and musicology were played on radio a bit, too.
Remixes of singles are common with every single since years and jamie lewis is
one of the most highly esteemed producers of house music...

i was listening to the "dance 4 me" remixes the other day and i don't mind all of them.

there's one that i can't stand but the others are ok. nothing great. but then, i think the

song itself didn't need any improvement to become more 'dance', it already is fine the

way it is on the album.

still the 'extended mix' of "rock and roll love affair" has got me curious. i wonder if it's

a full on extended prince 12" like he did in the old days. that would be great. if it's just

another generic remix, it'll still be welcome. for completist reasons, obviously biggrin

i'm just a bit rolleyes again because this single has now been out there for a few months

and it's still not available. if he's promoting it on tv and it's on radio, it should be up on

itunes at least. any momentum it creates should be backed up with the song actually

being available to the public. by november 23rd 95% of casual listeners will have just

moved on to the next thing. and of the remaining 5%, how many are going to buy the

physical single? he might not like downloads that much but if he wants the public to be

there to back him financially, he'll have to rethink his strategy.

my main gripe remains tho: why can't prince ever have his song available by the time

he starts performing it on tv or shipping it to (internet)radio?

prince's release 101 is pretty much:

01. hyping a new song 'coming soon'

02. the song appears online on an obscure radiostation, or website

03. prince shoots a video, dr funkenberry reports, posts teaser pic

04. prince performs the song on tv shows and in concert

05. song hits a few radiostations and creates minor buzz (in the prince community)

06. prince moves on, news of other things to come hit the cirquit

07. the general public forgets all about the song, if it even picked up the buzz at all

08. dr funkenberry reports on the song becoming officially available 'soon'

09. release is pushed back

10. song finally released on some weird label, without any further promotion

11. another month of silence, song doesn't show up on itunes

12. video shows up on the internet or gets aired on a tv show late at night. once.

13. six months later, when pushing another new project, prince will once again voice

his discontent with the current system and moan about illegal filesharing or complain

that the digital format is 'already outdated'

net total: we (the hardcore fans) have a new song, which at the end of the day is all

we want anyway, so it's all good for us.

but how prince fails to learn from this is beyond me. how many times can he repeat

this same marketing stillbirth?

confused

i wouldn't mind if he wouldn't care either and still release everything he records to us

but lately it seems that he keeps looking for ways to turn his music into big money in

an outdated system. whilst complaining that the actual functioning system is a scam.

sigh

Totally agree, his marketing system is geared up to ensure failure of commercially released singles.

Most hardcore and even casual fans have heard RnR Affair or whatever its offical title is now.

I got the song in August like most fans and since it was so marginal in quality, most of us have moved on from it and really don't care about it anymore.

By the time it finally sees the light of day, you will see a casual fan audience who have virtually forgotten who Prince is and will hardly be converted with a mediocre and completely uninspired piece of dross like that song. It sounds like something some washed up blues rock type group would have recorded.

For a man known for his level of prolific eleasing, the fact he can only grind out a dead single like that every few months is a sign he is past his peak and its time to sit on his laurels.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
