this song is an AWKWARD attempt to romanticize and AWKWARD relationship with the child that is ANDY ALLO .. its so insincere and hokey .. you can tell it is a relationship on mutual using of each other while pretending its about something spiritual or musical .. andy gets press .. prince gets laid and tries desperately to convince himself something deeper is going on .. please prince .. this is not rock n roll .. there is no "love" affair .. and with music like this there is certainly no road ahead

Nailed it.

Because the poster and God only made love to 'common' sense but 'common sense' makes war on God.

YIKES! Tell us what you really think! lol

To the bolded part, I think that is what I like about it. Prince always had an authenticity in his lyrics when it came to the many subjects of life. I see that again here. It should seem insincere because it is insincere. To some degree Prince is no fool. The lyrics say:

She wanted to see her name appear on the big screen
He just wanted to hear her scream his name
I think that just about sums it up. As you pointed out, Andy gets publicity; Prince gets laid. It's a win-win for them. He just chose to make a song about it. At least he's telling the truth.

PRINCE NEW SINGLE "ROCK N ROLL AFFAIR" his most CONTROVERSIAL SINGLE since he sang about his purple banana in LETS GO CRAZY. YES!! INCITING RIOTIS RELIGIOUS DEBATES in all corners of the INTERNET. FANS QUESTION "IF GOD EXISTS, WHY IS PRINCE NEW SONG SO BAD?" and "DID GOD ADD THE RASPBERRY BERRET KEYBOARDS OR WAS IT PRINCE?" and "DOES 'IT MIGHT NOT REPULSE MY FRIENDS' MEAN I LIKE IT?"

OK, moving on from the floundering War on Christianity, let me ask this:

WHERE is this going to be released? Is it as French release? European? Worldwide? So far, the only report I've seen is the OP from France.

Who cares really? Majory of us heard the song, downloaded and put in a folder that can be trashed in few months time. So, who is really gonna buy this? Isn't this a proper question to ask?

It is a good question to ask, but I think it's been answered by how well it did in radio play. Ergo, many people will buy it.

But my question there would be, will radio stations still be playing it in early November? I kind of think the song's play arc will be done by then.

It seems to me that in today's world, if you hear a song you like on the radio, you're either going to buy that song immediately, or probably not at all. Certainly not four weeks after it was heard on the radio for the last time.

My opinion is since he's done a music video for this, he'll start a bigger promo compaign via radio/online and he's aiming for wider audiences. This song is not for core Prince fans/listeners, since he's manufacturing AA too, he'll be channeling both songs through same promo campaigns to gain popularity. I think it can work very well to sell AA album as well as this crappy song for him.

It's very radio friendly comeback song for casual Prince listeners, and AA is good publicity stunt to look at. So I think it's time for the core Prince fans to take a break, and come back when we know we are targeted with something better than this nonsense, cause I don't think Prince is really targeting on his core fans at the moment. He's attempting a different route...in other words he wants the purple heads to have a break, he knows it and I guess I do 2.

well, if this is what music by someone who is "over" sounds or a song that is "complete garbage"

than sign me up for another dose still

smile

i've just finished listening to bat for lashes new album "the haunted man". that's where i just got

my fix of magic and otherworldly beauty. kinda like i got from prince in the past.

so now prince makes easy on the ears fairly middle of the road music. so what? i still like it when

i hear it. i won't play it every day a year and every week for the best part of a decade, certainly

not. but it doesn't offend me.

in fact, it makes me tap my foot and it does get stuck in my head. it's ok. no, it's nice.

prince isn't over people, come on. the brilliant prince who could do no wrong, yes, that one sadly

is over. but prince still makes good music. sometimes it's not so good, sometimes it's a bit better

and a pleasant surprise. but with the exception of "purple and gold" i'm never shocked.

so this will be a single now?

yeah, that's a bit of a weird one again. not for the song itself, but more because the song has

been out there for almost 3 months by the time a single shows up.

by now everyone and their grandmother have streamed it on their site, in varying degrees of

quality. with or without dj's talking over it.

my only slight gripe with this is that once again prince is gonna bitch that his single isn't selling

enough units etc etc. when he should have put the damn song on itunes the day it hit radio.

i'm kinda scared he'll then pull out of a new album for yet another while based on the bad sales

of the single.

like the botched promotion for andy's album and that whole clusterfuck of a 'release date' going

on right now, it just bodes all shades of shit for the future.

in that context, i don't even want this single. let it be a promo for the chicago shows and just

move on. create something else, or cherry pick the best stuff from recent sessions. but make

it into a full album and just sell it on itunes. for the love of god, no more 'revolutionary plans'

for releases.

people will say we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth and just take what we can get whilst

he's still 'giving'. but i say, shouldn't we at least be a bit suspicious when we know that in the

past prince has repeatedly shat in the horses mouth before giving it to us?

I misread that part. I am not sure radio play means digit of sale. Radio airtime can be purchased and this way channeled so that people do actually buy a shit album. From my knowledge this is often times done. Prince is no exception to the rule. This shitty song can still flop.

it kind of depends on the medium of release as well. if it's purely a physical release on that

purple music label, it's not gonna shift that many units. it will hardly break even for the cost

of the shitty cardboard sleave it's gonna come in.

it should be on itunes. or on his own site. oh wait....

you're right. and that is a bit of a healthy sign. but then: he got back into the spotlight and into the

public eye with "musicology" and all the performances, tours, the superbowl etc etc. and yet, when

he had everyone's attention, he messed up big time with lotusflower.com

it's like he wants more fans until he has them and then he doesn't, or he decides that he won't be

pandering to them.

it's always just plain weird with prince.

then once he scared all the casual fans off again he goes on tour and plays only hits for those who

remained loyal, saying that 'the casual fans or the first timers' want to hear the hits.

funny how he doesn't seem to think that those casual fans who just discovered him or those first

timers at his concerts won't want to pick up a remastered copy of his back albums in good sound

quality instead of having to search online for out of print albums or buy crappy sounding 30 year

old versions from the few stores that still stock anything besides purple rain and 1999.

oh well, i know i'll always be here to pick up new songs and albums, but he's sure made sure to

take most of the fun out of the whole process for everyone.

dang.

lol

but is he really gonna promote it? i suppose we'll have to wait and see.

he might actually surprise us all and extensively promote and tour her

album and possibly his own new disc (if there is one)

let's hope so.

i still wish him nothing but the best. if his new single shifts a million or

more copies, i'll be clapping hardest for him. but i'm affraid this will be

exactly like all the other times before. 1 or 2 appearances, and then

he's done.

he'll go on tour, certainly, but he'll be going through the old stuff once

more and perhaps andy will be there, to sing back up on take me with
