what the hell are you talking about, i quit reading midway through you guys are just too much. What gives you the right to call him a drunk and pill popper, on what info are you going? Some of you, i'm convinced, are just miserable failures in your own lives and instead of dealing with that you project all that shit on someone else, could be your kids, your parents or anyone but here on the org it happens to be Prince. He is a better musician and singer than ever, he still cranks out music 5 to 1 at least in comparison to his contemporaries. I take great songs where I can find them and Prince has consistently had at least enough of those to make me want to listen, not to mention the mind blowing live performances he can come up with at times. Here we have a guy who's given us a volume of work that nearly no one in this field can match, the closest comparison is to jazz artists like Ellington or Miles and all you guys can do is bitch. I don't even have time to listen to all of his music and i know that if i was determined I could go to youtube or somewhere and find great songs which I've never heard before, yet all you can do is bitch.

u do realize this org is not just for prince groupie wannabe's right? why do you even read these negatively themed threads? i answered the op .. you just bitched about my post cuz you wanna bitch .. prince is always refering to boozing it up with his women in his songs .. and we know he was poppin pills from his hip issues and probably more considering how bad the music has been .. i am sure if prince gave a flying purple crap about his bitching fans he would put out some better music .. i am happy for you that you found some good music on you tube .. congraduflatulations

because some people go way over and beyond the point where I think it's about Prince anymore and more about their own issues, that's the problem I have with some people. You know, between being a groupie and a hater there is a lot of space in between and somewhere is a balance. It seems as if there aren't as many balanced views here as there used to be. Prince owes you nothing sir, you've never met him, he doesn't give a crap about you or your viewpoint, when you go on about his personal affairs which have little to do with his music and are really none of your business. I think it shows to what length you want to go to criticize the guy. Like I said, I find good music where I can, I'm a fan of good music, not everything Prince, or Bruce (two of my favorites) is great or even good, I can live with a rotten album like Bruce's magic if I can find one nugget like Radio Nowhere, same goes for Prince. If it weren't the case I'd never listen. Terence trent d'arby who I love has lots of new music that I can hardly even listen to, not only is it bad, it sounds like he recorded whatever came out of a jam session with no thought to quality, I can't hate him for that, i just lose interest in his new stuff. If Prince ever gets that bad, and I doubt he will I'll lose interest too. Even now I do not have time to scour the net for some of his unreleased stuff which I know has some nuggets there.

Seriously the orgers we percieve as "negative" and as "haters" are bringing nothing to any discussion criticism wise. Most of them haven't had a fresh outlook or a new opinion in over a decade. They just ratlle off the same manifesto everytime Prince gets active. It's all just noise after a point. Like listening to a subway preacher trying to "save" us all from hell. The sad thing is they won't claim a single convert on here! Most orgers have already made their choices regarding Prince and what they will do for him and there's no post/thread that's going to change that for any of us.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

For me its a few things.

One, i still think he makes decent music. Two, I'm hopeful that he has another Sign 'O' or at the least, another PRINCE in him and three, nostalgia.

Some of the things that turn me off about prince 2012 are his lyrics, his continued infatuation with girls half his age and his apparent inability to really challenge himself musically(in the studio).

Having said that, i still prefer an imperfect Prince over the majority of today's performers, bands and Rappers.

I share your turn-offs.

Lyrics are often postcard-level philosophy, very cheesey romantic or downright silly poppy, bouncy funk stuff. Not to mention the evangelic preaching material or overly religeous songs. Somehow I hoped there would be a moment where he would go and write bolder and rawer stuff on life. Not the sexual stuff from his past but really going for the zest in life. About stuff you learn in life, the changing views while turning older.

At the moment it feels like he just wants to be an old-school pop/soul/funk artist which doesn't lift him above many others, certainly not with the ease he seems to make these songs. It seems he's dwelling too much in his comfort zone.

I agree, I agree, I AGREE !

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

er

^Me too. This is exactly why P's recent records aren't as good as the old ones. He needs somebody or something to really inspire him as a writer again. And I don't think he is going to get that from Shelby or Andy. This is also why the "he is still better than everything else on the radio" argument doesn't work. That is like saying, well, 6/10 is still better than 3/10. But we all know Prince can make records that are 10/10.
But I'll keep saying, onstage he still has it.
