I didn't. Show me where I did that.

I said I didn't like it and explained why.

People who didn't like it are being accused of having incomplete and and vacant lives lacking in meaning.

"Goddamn!" indeed.

I don't care if you liked it or not and don't recall insulting anyone who did.

This whole time I thought this was a Prince message board. You know, where we discuss and share our opinions about Prince and music and shit.

i thought it was pretty nice. i liked his vocal adlibs toward the end a lot, and i liked seeing him play a new song and be excited by it. i still think it's the absolute wrong choice for a single tho. this one isn't going to generate much interest in any new project, imo.

and i'm going to say this with love because i care:

Prince, please stop wearing lip balm that has shimmer. It looks super creepy against your pencil moustache. A matte finish would look much better. That is all.

Now THIS is what I'm talkin' about. I wish this had aired insted of the first song. Still not a peak performance, but way more energy and feel behind it. I always like it when that guitar comes out. Thanks for the link.

I don't hate the song, like "Purple and Gold" or "Wedding Feast" or anything. There's just something flat about it and there's no electricity or real sizzle to it. I listen to Prince to hear "Days of Wild" and "Calhoun Square", songs that are thick and urgent with layers of sound and rawness on top, so maybe it's just a matter of personal taste.

When your life is so devoid of substance that you can only follow a musician that you don't even appreciate any longer, who has the problem? The musician or you?

Those who feel he's lost his spark, energy, inspiration, creativity et al. should then wonder why they still follow him? Please don't run that "the old material keeps me around" line it's a cop out for why you can't find music that you enjoy or makes you feel positive thoughts instead of negative ones.

Prince is clearly not relying on repeating the 80's to get/keep/grow a fanbase. He's moved on. Why haven't you?

The majority still enjoy Prince's work and appreciate that he's still into giving us music. We aren't focused on the fact that he wore an outfit 3 times or what style his hair is in.

Well, let's see. A few things. how would I know if I didn;t care for something if I didn't, you know, fucking watch it first? "The Dance Electric" was really good, I thought, "R&RLA" pretty bad. See, here's we do on message boards: we watch the subject perform and then offer our take on it. I'm an Al Pacino fan, for instance, so I tend to watch his movies when I can. Is it OK if I didn't like "Carlito's Way" or 'Sea of Love" very much but still liked "Heat" and "Any Given Sunday" or should I just stop following his films because I didn't care for a few of them?

I also follow the Philadelphia Phillies and they didn't do so well this year so I guess I should just stop watching games. There was this one restaruant I ate at several times and on occasion, I enjoyed some entrees better than other ones. Some I didn't like at all, but I know they usually serve good food so I go back and give it another try. There are some HBO series I watch and generally they're pretty good. Some not so much. When I don't like one, or a particular episode of one, I say so, but usually come back because they tend to be good for the most part. I enjoy Stephen King books a lot but some of them I thought were terrible. I'll still usually give his work a read though because he's a good writer.

My wife made me mad one time and disappointed me with some thigns she said and did, but I know that she's a quality person overall and I love her so I didn't just go "fuck this" and leave her.

Is everything a zero sum equation where if Stephen King writes a few shitty books or Martin Scorcese makes a bad movie I shouldn't check out thier work or talk about it in any way?

Are you starting to see how this works or does everyone who didn't like the show the other night have some sort of personal problem?

Not all of them just the ones who state...

"I miss the old Prince..."

"He's not inspired anymore..."

"He's been on autopilot since (insert album here)..."

How long are you going to follow someone who you feel that way about? I'd give him 3 albums and then probably write him off as no longer appealing to my tastes. There are orgers on here who've been whining about this issue since 1995! Wars have been fought in less time. Babies have been born and are headed to college. It's ridiculous that some people are waiting for a musician to give them their groove back after almost 2 decades. It's equally ridiculous that it's somehow all the musicians fault that his music no longer appeals to an individuals tastes. I didn't know Prince(or any musician) was writing specifically to appease that one fan who needs that one track to restore their faith in the funk.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I just watched the performance again and I must say that I'm still in awe of PRINCE! It was a fun and fantastic performance! It reminds of his performance of Cream back in '91 on Arsino Hall. Just a strip down playful rocking pop funk jam.

And what makes the Rock and Roll Love Affaire performance on Kimmel special to me was seeing how happy PRINCE was. He was having fun, he was doing his thing and I was loving every second of it!

I can not wait to get a proper release of R&R Love Affair and hopefully a new PRINCE album.

I like the studio version of "Rock & Roll Love Affair" a lot, but the live performance was kind of weak. If only they'd aired this instead!

Even live Rock and Roll love affair reminds me of Girls and Boys!

Yes he did look like he was really enjoying performing Rock and Roll love affair, though Andy looked awkward with her guitar, like it was way too big for her, just saying.

A pretty underwhelming performance for a song that is a breezy, decent tune that really doesn't go anywhere. I do appreciate the sincerity behind it, though...Prince obviously believes in it becasue he's making more than half the effort to promote it. But, what's the point behind it? Is it going be on an album being released sometime soon or is it just another "one off" performance like Leno???

There are certain sounds and elements that if missing from the song live can mess up a rendition

1 thing about Dance Electric is that he (whether by electronics or real instruments) the claps and the 'tamborine' pops they help make that song

People are really stretching here to find something not to like. Prince finally did something conventional with this song(released it to radio, promoted it on tv, releasing it as a single & all in a reasonable timeframe) which may or may not lead up to a new CD. So of course as usual let's get on him for his clothes and his hair.

Nice performance. The song works well live and he looks like he's having a great time.

I had to stretch not to absolutely pan the whole thing. I guess I'm just jaded. Oh well.

I feel grateful. I was bummed after not making it to the Chicago shows. The people I know in Chicago got to hear The Dance Electric. They didn't even know it, they are casual fans. That's what I specifically wanted to see/hear live. I got it, and it was FREE @ The Kimmel Show. Even the soundcheck of it was boss! I'm still buzzing off of it. music

The Prince of yesteryear would've considered a pedestrian song like "RNR Affair" unworthy as a b-side. He's coasting, devoid of any creative spark.

I thought it was ok, you can only reinvent the wheel so many times, it's part of what drove Elvis to an early grave the "what the hell do I do now" syndrome. Elvis wanted to grow but was stifled by fans who wanted hound dog and he really didn't know what to do so you had him doing lounge lizard stuff and finally just collapsing on a bathroom floor in graceland. Prince is doing ok, top professionalism and he looks like a man half his age.
