Would you buy a Welcome 2 Chicago live DVD?

Well the signs certainly seemed to point to a DVD of some sorts, lots of filming, same outfits over 2 nights perhaps for continuity etc. Given the issues on sound, the set list that we know so well, the fact that lots of us have seen a tonne of pro shot footage already from the the current stage rig [o2 gigs onwards] etc. I just wonder if there's the appetite right now?

Casual fans will have read the bad reviews of the first night - if they weren't aware then the reviewers in the press will 100% make then aware!!.

The hardcore like myself will no doubt want it as part of our collection but then again do we view it as a non event that is a cash generator for the masses?

If I were P, given all the bad vibes around the shows I'd forget Chi-towns gigs and perhaps look at the many other stellar shows from the Welcome 2 series - there is surely more than enough footage?

Of course but we all know how P is on following through with getting an actual DVD made, produced and for sale

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

Most likely he will take the best performances from the W2 concerts. In that case I would buy the dvd/blue ray. It's way long overdue for a concert on DVD.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I think people who had the misfortune to attend either or both Monday night shows oughta get them for free.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yes only if it was from the 25th (from what I hear)!!!!

However, we are still waiting for the 21 Nights in London DVD wink That would have been amazing..1000x better than the poor quality Aladdin Live DVD.

That's a good observation about the outfits. It was a bit of a letdown not to have costume changes with crazy outfits, and I wondered why.

I'd buy a blu-ray, or in this day and age, a download.

I'd be interested in a live dvd of W2 Chicago, or a compilation of 'the best bits' of the W2 run - for continuity's sake I think the former would be better - the addition of the horz is certainly welcome. I'd just hope he has taken the media/ fans' review criticisms on board i.e. not give too much exposure to back up singers, and light on the covers.

We certainly have been starved of (quality) DVD releases - he really does need to show the masses who reigns live.

I wouldn't buy it. When he tours with new music, or he does a B-Sides and Bootlegs tour, I'd happily buy a ticket to multiple shows wherever they are, and buy the DVD. I'm not spending my money to hear this tired ass set-list.

Sadly, Prince concerts have become like the iPhone. Every eighteen months or so, he announces a new one. You're excited about the announcement, you eagerly anticipate it, you get it, and then you realize that it's 99.99% exactly the same as the last one. Why bother? If he's too lazy to modify the setlist, or too jaded by religious dogma to play the hot stuff from his canon, I'll keep my money in my pocket or spend it on artists without unnecessary, self-imposed shackles and limitations.

Yes, why are the released DVDs some of the most sup par ones?!

I mean we have SEEN him do 1000x better than those so why doesn't he do himself justice and get those out there instead of letting the bootleggers cream thousands off him ?!?!

Count me in. But I'd like to hear bits and pieces from both Chicago with the horns orchestra and Oz for the accoustic pieces. Funny that no one ever talks about these differences in the music presentation. Andy McKee added much to the PR intros down under and this concert has gorgeous parts with the overriding here and there.

Still haven't heard Act of God though....Maybe Dr. Funkenberry will delight us again! Or hopefully there will be a new CD for the end of 2012. Fans are definitely hungry for new music, though maybe Prince has only been producing others. All the more reason for a dvd. cool And if nothing's forthcoming then, 'that's where you went wrong Prince.' booty!

The sound issues won't be a problem. You know the mf is going to overdub the shit out of it anyway.

He'll beat the crap out of the concert atmosphere indeed.

OMG, just watched the 'extra loveable' clip and the lights around the symbol are constantly shorting out. Jesus, it's like gettin the broken, crappy lights out of the loft at christmas, putting them on the tree and being too lazy or too broke to replace them !!

He may be able to over dub the sound but even Ridley Scott couldn't fix this farce!.

As i've said a billion times, if P loses his live rep' then his career will be over.

I just watched the show from the 26th and I would have to say no. Sorry but it was a boring 2 hours. As always, there were a few highlights and some good guitar work but I'm left scratching my head more than clapping my hands. Joy In Repetition with no guitar?

with one show having big sound issues..

he has performances from 2 shows to choose from..

based on the responses, the 2nd show was the best one and 3rd was good or great..

maybe he won't have enough performances to choose from knowing the perfectionist that he is..

or maybe it will never come out just because.

Prince & Jennifer's duet alone is enough for this 2 b released on dvd. It was fire!!!!Plus Prince was in his top element on this successful leg of his mega successful W2A tour. Which he donates a portion 2 various charities he believes in. Don't know any other artist that can sell out big arenas in a days notice & pull the whole thing off..

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince
