Setting aside the fact that the lyrics and music of the two songs are different, in what way are they the same song?

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

THe melody of the sung parts in the verses, the rythm of the sung parts in the verses, as well as timing. It's built up pretty much the same way. The lyrics, voice, musical arrangement and sound, as well as the hook is what really seperates them. Mountains is also slower with falsetto all over the place.

Are you thinking along the lines of......

"once upon a time in a land called fantasy...."

"dine in san francisco, dance all night in rome..."

I hear a vague similarity I guess. Just the tinest, tiniest bit!.....

Just had to post it razz, nothing to fight over. It's more obvious when Prince is singing cool live. I had been listening to him do Cool on live bootlegs for a while, and now recently I put on Mountains. I was like... damn. I was hearing Cool inside my head after I heard the first couple lines. Not a big deal. But I think it was worth mentioning from a songwriter/producer point of view. You can do something pretty similar, wrap it in differently, and people won't think of the similarity.
