maybe prince will retaliate by covering madness? we all know he could do it better lol

I'd rather he play one of his own songs than perform another band's absolute worst single.

Here's the direct link to their performance:

I like the cover.

Check out the rest of the clip too. Panic Station is really doing it for me at the moment.

Its a great cover, and if you watch the whole half hour performance its a pleasure to see what good musicians Muse are. Their current sound is showing clear influences from Prince.

Its been coming. "Super Massive Blackhole" was a real "Prince" track.

I totally dig the heavier edge. Not too crazy over the vocals either but they're not too bad.

To me that's what I miss most about Prince's music today. Too much la de da and not enough edginess. By that I don't mean heavier guitar either. Wish I could put it in words better. Take his MTV live performance of SOTT for example, Fury on SNL, and even Dreamer on Leno. Maybe it's more than the music itself. Body language maybe? I don't know it's just a vibe you get when listening or watching that comes through and hits ya!

He could cover U2's Joshua Tree in its entirety if that's the case! Though I'd rather hear Baggy Trousers

Muse are the best band in the world without a doubt. (Don't even mention Coldplay in the same breath). Their latest album has some great songs but a couple of fillers-especially the two songs where Matt doesn't do lead vocals. Still quite a strong album.

The cover of Sign o the times was very interesting but if you listen to Prince doing Sign live in concert especially in 80's and 90's it was a very similar interpretation-i.e raw and rockier with plenty of guitar heroics and I'm sure Matt has heard (even seen) many of those live performances.

Matt has always credited Prince as an influence and just last week in an interview he credited Prince as being a major influence on the latest album.

Slander.
