What is the holy grail of live Prince songs?

What would be the ONE song that would be mind-blowing to hear live? The one that would be amazing to witness live and you would practically kill to hear? The one that you would say, if you had the chance, "No, Prince...this, THIS is what your fans are salivating to hear!"

My vote is La, La, La, He, He, Hee (and of course I'm talking about the Highly Explosive mix).

Too many to mention but one that popped in my head would be Irresistable Bitch with the full horn treatment. Like he did in 93 but a full version.

I love Irresistible Bitch. Thankfully, there are many live versions of it preserved on boots...the one on From the Soundboard is my favorite.

Empty Room was mine. Then I witnessed its live debut at Xenophobia in 2002.

It would probably be Open Book now.

And Witness 4 The Prosecution could probably make me lose my mind. Even in an NPG rendition.

I think "Crystal Ball" would be really interesting to hear if he was faithful to the studio version. "Rockhard in a Funky Place" I would dig as well !

Has he ever done a full version of "Sometimes It Snows In April" live? If not, that would be my choice. I loved the ONA tour version, but I want the whole song done that way.

Otherwise, maybe "Into The Light" / "I Will" (if this is cheating, then just "Into The Light"). Maybe not the best song he hasn't done live, but it's the first to come to mind.

I'd like to see a full on jam on "Le Grind" opening a stadium concert with muscle.

Fortunately I already have a video of it live, but to see him sit down and perform it again, this song at a Prince concert, I would have kittens.

"Hey Hannigan".

I'm sorry, that will always make me laugh. You probably had to be there.

So in all seriousness, I guess it would be "Wally".

In 2010 in Arnhem he did a beautiful version where he actually sang the second verse.

"Joy In Repetition" for me, I guess. I know he's done it several times, but that's what I'd like to hear live.

The "holy grail" of Prince concerts would be an arena show that wouldn't have "Purple Rain" on the setlist. wink

I wonder if Prince would even remember what "Wally" sounded like at this point. Alternatively, I wonder if he's already used the melody on some other song and just never told us.

So happy someone mentioned this! I rate Into The Light/ I Will as two of the best songs he has ever recorded! I look at them as one song! And I would go crazy to hear them love! He should jut go head and release them! I would loose it!!!!!!!

I Will contains one of the best guitar solos!

Interesting. It could be turned into a more traditional R&B / funky pop song, I guess. The melody is strong enough.

Impossible to play live. Straight studio cut.
