I am late to the party but what I absolutely love about Prince are the tone and passion of how he delivers a lyric. Now we all know he has done this song a million times yet he will put a little inflection here and have a subtle turn on a note there and make his delivery so damn soulful. That in and of itself is pure genius to me. Anyone with chops can do this song but it is what emanates from within that makes a song come alive. Prince is one soulful dude and that is why I have loved him all these years !!

That was a pathetic piece of amateur acting. As if the band would know "Nothing Compares 2 U" of the top of their heads.

Her good friend Prince? Seriously? What have they ever collaborated on?

And Mary not being arsed to sing "Sweet Thing" and telling the audience to do it: WTF is up with some artists? DO YOUR GODDAMN JOB.

I mean, what else can I say?

I don't know what Prince did to you, but it had to have been at least 10 years ago because you've been ragging on him over every single thing he does for at least that long.

You need to move on and if you can't move on, then just move.

Oh look, yet another "I can't disprove what he said, so I'll launch a personal attack" response.

^^^And BartVanHemelen this is the hypocrisy you make when you personal attack Prince. Yes, I understand sometimes it's harsh criticism, yet a lot of it is directed to his personal life choices-thus making it a personal attack against Prince. I am open to you and all others criticism of his work, but his personal life has nothing to do with us.

Great picture. I love that you can see his eyes through the glasses.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Does anyone else NOT like the way he sings the chorus now? It’s not just this performance, its been for the last year or more, he sings the ‘Nothing Compares …’ chorus bit lower. The chorus does not lift in the song at all anymore.

Highlights from Day 2 of the iHeartRadio Music Festival: September 22, 2012

  • Mary J. Blige and Prince duet "Nothing Compares 2 U": Mary J. Blige truly shocked and rocked Las Vegas when she stopped midway through her performance to announce a surprise guest performer – the iconic artist Prince. "I got a real good friend in the building. He's one of the most amazing artists to ever walk the earth," she said as she introduced Prince during her set Saturday night. Together the pair performed hits "Sweet Thing" and "Nothing Compares 2 U."
  • Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance joined deadmau5 for live debut of "Professional Griefers": deadmau5 lit up the night with an electronica inspired laser show from the Festival's spectacular DJ booth. The audience flashed to the beats with specially programmed multicolored iHeartRadio LED wristbands as the producer/DJ showcased multiple mau5 heads throughout his electrifying set. The crowd's attention shifted to the main stage where My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way joined the main stage to sing his collaboration with deadmau5, their new release "Professional Griefers."
  • Pitbull and Ne-Yo closed the iHeartRadio Music Festival: To wrap up the 2012 iHeartRadio Festival Ne-Yo, who had completed his own set earlier in the evening, joined Pitbull for "Give Me Everything" while thousands of balloons rained down on concert-goers. This was the second collaboration of the show for both Pitbull and Ne-Yo; Pitbull joined Enrique Iglesias on stage for "Baby I Like It" earlier in the evening and Ne-Yo collaborated with Calvin Harris for hit song "Let's Go."

Live audio and video streams of the iHeartRadio Music Festival were available online and via mobile devices at Yahoo.com and on Xbox. Fans can also catch it on the CW on Monday, Oct. 1, 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET. – which will kick off their Fall 2012 season.

No guarantee they will show Prince, but I would think so?
Monday channel CW Oct 1st 8pm.

I agree with this completely. And that is why I love every performance of Purple Rain because Prince still delivers that song with so much passion! - Not only his awesome guitar solo, but also the way he sings the song is usually full of emotion.

And from the Australia tour I am absolutely in love with how he sang "Love Thy Will Be Done" at the first show in Sydney. The soulful expression in his voice brings tears to my eyes.

flipping channels last night, and wouldn't you know it? There is this performance! Plus, the Green Day meltdown, heavily edited for television smile

Performance was fine, but pretty bland. With a look like that, Prince either needs to be futuristic or crazy funky. But I enjoyed it. And my gf enjoyed his glasses.

Yes, agree.

Also think that Jennifer Hudson was better than Mary.

Also realize what an AMAZING singer Prince is - particularly in the concert with Hudson, he can sing in that gospel-y way when he wants, and that high-note duel at the end with Hudson...whew!

It was breathtakingly beautiful & left me simply speechless.....He gets better & better with his vocal delivery the older he gets.Plus with a powerhouse vocalist like Jen. He killed it...
