Help making a mix CD

I'm making a mix CD for my boss, he in African American and in his mid-50's. His musical tastes consist of Bobby Bland, BB King, Al Green, amongst other artists of that nature. He knows some of Prince's hit's from the 80's but they sounded to "suspect" to him, I was explaining Prince's musicianship and how he would probably enjoy alot of his lesser known work and I would make him a CD... but I need some help, here is what I have so far...

Sign O The Times

Joy In Repitition

Reflection

Old Friends 4 Sale

5 Women

The Word

Sexy MF

There are a lot of suggestions here http://prince.org/msg/7/386357

The one posted by TheStonedImmaculate toward the end is especially good, I think, with a little bit of tweaking.

or The Beautiful Ones. non-fans generally seem to love any one those 3 when they're exposed.

If he's African American and in his mid 50s, and thought Prince's music in 80s was suspect..if he didn't get his music back then....he will never get it. Don't even try it.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

I'd throw in a bit of jazz from The Vault album and definitely Family name.

was listening to 'when the lights go down' from the vault today - that would fit in your playlist well - and I think everyone should hear 'the love we make' from emancipation

I would take fury off of there and replace it with Colonized Mind or Endorphine Machine. The studio version is so flat. I'd also put wasted kisses on there as well.

When The Lights Go Down is an eye opener for many, it doesn't sound like the stereotype many have of Prince. Some others...

It's About That Walk

We Gon' Make It Funky

Purple House

Five Women

Van Gogh

Mellow

Extraordinary

I Wonder U

Under The Cherry Moon

Dark

I forget which Ahdio Show but there's a segment that flows from The Question of U to an Instrumental with Prince calling out band members then he plays their parts, to Courtin' Time (really good musicianship throughout with humor thrown in)

Beggin' Woman Blues

Old Friends 4 Sale

Northside

Can I Play With U?

Maybe this guy might be convinced, but you'll probably get a grudging respect at most is my guess. He sounds like a tough sell.

I wanna know how your boss reacted to the Prince mix! Since he thought Prince was very suspect. lol

Hopefully you will not have him traumatized. Prince is not easy for a lot of people. lol

Sure Prince sounds like B.B. King! I don't even know why this is cracking me up so much.

How about this 9 track playlist:

1. I Rock Therefore I am

2. Somebody's Somebody

3. Diamonds and Pearls

4. Mr. Goodnight

5. Vavoom

6. The Rainbow Children

7. Annastesia

8. I Love U In Me

9. Crystal Ball

There's no way he'll think suspect after listening straight through!

the point is to convert this guy to a Prince fan, though. right? confuse

yikes. that's got to be one of the most random and off-putting playlists of Prince's music I've ever seen, despite the very high quality of a few of the tracks.
