Dude, if there are no info on his live perf, but more mouth propaganda, it will add more to his everlasting image of the baddest live artists of all time. This is what he wants....

Also, he wants to promote the Mrs.nelson album, allolotion crap with the 9 piece militia gang. lol

I imagine it fits well with the cover songs and all... wink

[Edited 8/31/12 17:56pm]

But TDG was not a website devoted to cataloging his live performances per se, rather the various bootlegs of those performances as well as studio stuff. I just don't see much benefit to him in shutting it down, and a lot of downside in the form of negative publicity right before his Chicago concerts. If he wants to make a point about bootlegs, why not sue Eye Records and the other ripoff companies that are making a profit from them?

It was a cataloguing of live performances so that everybody could see what was out there, the performances, his song output and everything. This is far too much information about him, but most importantly I notice over the years what really pisses him off are fanmade artwork CD's that look far too professional, that really pisses him off badly...same was with HQ...he went nuts!

In few years the same will happen to PVault...

Prince I will always miss and love U.

I say if you have the chance to see Prince then GO!!!!

I regret not going to the Eatons Hills aftershow when I had the chance - and regret is a horrible thing.

I would never let an opportunity go by again.

You may feel you don't want to go now but believe me, when the event is on or just afterwards - you will have regret if you dont go. neutral

I don't know. I could have gone to the other W2A shows but I didn't, and I don't regret that. Chicago is easier for me to get to, so it's tempting, but part of me wants to cherish the memory of seeing him on the Lovesexy tour and not sully it with a memory of the greatest-hits show he is apparently putting on these days.

You know, I can tell you seeing Prince is great, but remember it is not what it used to be. If you haven't seen him live for a long time, it may be not such a bad idea to remember him how he used to be when U saw him life. I was a little disappointed last year with the NPG!

Plus I got to see the Revolution earlier this year, which I was too young to see when they were touring with Prince. I should probably forget about Prince in Chicago and go see fDeluxe instead. But my offer still stands...

What is DB?

Whoever is running the TGD now needs a new web hosting, IP and different layout, and put that shit up again, that's all.

Maybe hand it over to somebody who wants to run the site or do it as a group, or whatever! Prince can't shut down sites. FACT!

Instead of whining, it may be a good idea to think about alternative forms to have that shit up again!

Prince can still pull out some great oldie surprises when he wants to--like performing with Sheila E. last year--what a great pairing even then, musically, and a great memory, as well. wink

Yep, I remember that from long time ago. So, why do you think this is not worth a sticky? Some valuable information and source are lost with this site, and yet nobody gives a shit. It's not only a loss of information but also messing up with freedom of information act that applies to the internet.

Now that is some serious thing, and I am not happy with that at all.

Get real! Prince is not gonna perform with Sheila. More likely, he'll be performing more so than ever with Andylotion since she's got the badest album of the century released. It'll be a mix of Shelby, Andy and Prince with lotsa cover songs. wink

I didn't say that he would perform with Sheila E. this time around--I was referring to the concerts I went to last year. Prince and Sheila E. are not on the greatest of terms right now... But, if and when they get together, they always have a great chemistry on stage, if not personally.

What first attracted me to Prince was the love/funk I felt when hearing his music. I'm going to guess that's what brought most of us here. And I agree with whoever wrote it, that there are lots of cool/good people on this site. I might not always agree, but Prince.org has kept me informed while letting me laugh at lots of wit displayed here, seriously lol

So on a nite when I find out that the Blue Moon has nothing to do with the color blue, I think I'm going to be true to that color anyway. Because this issue has me splitting hairs with the man.

Because if the Word of God is the Law then shouldn't we follow that Law to a T? And isn't it written that vengence is the Lord's? All over this world great injustices are done everyday. We can be sue happy and try to settle things in court in an attempt to prove we're right or we can turn it over to a Higher Authority

There are two sides to every coin and with Fame comes some unwanted side effects. So I sort of think of it as a choice because I know of no human being that can regulate the coin so that only one side exists.

My personal reasons of feeling this way really don't belong on a Prince site. If they did i could list a few examples of law suits that I most likely would have won. But the choice I made was to letitgo and let that higher authority take care of it and bring perfect justice to it one day.

With whatever amount of life that I have left I want more than anything to enjoy all the people and things in this world that I love. I was reminded recently how everything can change in an instant, so it makes loving life that much more precious and important to me right now. I was so excited to see that P might play in St Paul but then had to quickly adjust when I saw that it was canceled. Then I read about the exciting Chicago shows knowing I wouldn't be able to make that trip and needed to realign my thoughts. One of the first things I felt was that there's going to be some happy people that are able to go to those shows excited

But when I opened this thread, and another about the same topic, all I could do was shake my head. I didn't know about what the Digital Garden offered, mainly because of no desire to find bootlegs etc. To me it's more fun to respect someone whose music I love and hope to see him play live again someday. But if others who love Prince's music went to that site, who am I to judge? I can control no one but myself and all I know is that I don't know it all. I've learned lots of things from people who post on this site and I appreciate the insight. But i take it all with a grain of salt. It's basically a personal decision and everyone is entitled to do what they want to do. IMO no one can control all other men and women no matter who they are. And it makes me CRAZY to think that so many people here who truly love the man and his music would lash out at him because he lashed out on them by taking down TDG. Maybe I've watched that video of CeeLo and P too many times but it rings so true with so many things going on in our world today. Like cops beating up innocent people, in order to 'keep the peace.' 'Come on now, who do you think U are? Bless your soul, you maybe Crazy ...just like me' heart

You know this really doesn't shock me; because it has happen before...I just wonder how far it will go?

I was just listening to P.F.U.N.K. lol

I loved 'The Digital Gardner' and it's a shame to longer see it anymore. If he even touches Pvault or the ORG...I'll be really confused.

It's like; what are you doing Prince? I mean...Threatening a site that did abide by all of the laws and enforced free speech because it hosts boots? That is unreasonable.I mean..It's just so unfortunate. I was just talking to my girl about this, and she was saying how Prince treats his fans like crap...and I defended him. Because I don't think that is in his heart...

But a tree is known by the fruit it bears. Actions like these really make it hard to hear about Chi-Town! I still want to go and see him though..!! lol

But; I'm just really bothered by news like this..I mean...I agree with what many people have already said. It's just not cool...

Fair enough.

But still ..why no live shows since Lovesexy?

Plus Im not saying it's right or wrong to have a website about bootlegs etc but Im saying that with the way Prince does things regarding them, the smart thing to do would be to keep it away from his and his handlers awareness as awareness is just going to bring trouble. You diont asgree with that?

[Edited 8/31/12 10:52am]

Okay, my life story in brief... From 1992 to 2004 I was in college and then graduate school, and had very little disposable income. I only went to two concerts that entire time (Elvis Costello and Parliament-Funkadelic). Then in 2005 I got a job in Dallas and moved there. I got more interested in Prince because (1) I had money to buy records and CDs for the first time in decades, and discovered whole eras that I had missed, and (2) the internet allowed me to hear some of his amazing unreleased material. So when a Prince concert was announced in Dallas, I bought tickets although it was incredibly expensive. Then it was cancelled. After the cancellation I was reluctant to fly to the shows in LA, Oakland, or NC, even though the plane ticket and hotel would have cost less than the Dallas show, both because I didn't want to waste time on a trip to see a cancelled show and because I was a bit irritated about the way the Dallas cancellation was handled (basically, we were not told the truth about the reasons for the cancellation).

I agree with you that the best way to share information about bootlegs without falling afoul of the Prince police is to do it as secretly as possible--perhaps with a secret handshake at fan gatherings as I somewhat sarcastically suggested earlier. My point is that I think this is a shortsighted PR strategy by Prince given that his main source of income seems to be concerts. If he is planning a major deluxe reissue campaign to make some money off these bootlegged songs, that's different. But I'll believe that when I see it. Anyway, it doesn't matter that much as Prince is only one artist that I like and this will make me feel less guilty about flying to see the Stones in NYC if that works out.

Awesome read!

I really enjoyed reading what you had to say! smile

Hey, thanks! I wondered if anyone would actually read that.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Unfortunately we had little time to mount any form of protest or counter arguement. The hosting company also received the take down notice and, naturally, decided it wasn't worth the hassle and told us the site would be removed in a matter of hours.

The site was backed up in one form or another but not the way I would have liked so whether it can ever be restored properly, I just don't know at this time. Thanks for your messages of support. It's a real pisser he's chosen to be a dick again but I'm actually surprised it took this long.

In the meantime, we're still active on the popular social media sites if you're after updates etc. Not sure how long that will last but fingers crossed. Thanks everyone smile

Man, this took us by surprise as much as you... Since Prince had seemed to lighten up on his anti-internet campaign... But you guys, more than anyone, adhered to the "rules" that seemed to be in place by the standards of Prince's "Web Sheriff." Now, your site is knocked down like so many others. That is very disheartening...even for the most tolerant of Prince fans. Thank you for your great site and I hope you find a way to re-vamp it in the future. RIP Princevault... rose

smh. Another great resource gone?

It's an INFORMATION site, is he gonna take down wikipedia too? What a bully and for what to shit on his most loyal customers and fanbase? Andy's album must be ready to make it's thud without a parachute and he wants to get rid of the "competition". rolleyes

Thanks to the hard working, dedicated site admins and creators, it was a fantastic resource indeed.

hmmm so the information site assisting the infringement copyright law on bootlegs gets shut down. I never went there, but I can imagine all the hard work and creativity that's gone into to it and I understand people are upset.

Obviously, it's not all kosher and probably seen as an 'accomplice' to bootlegging. People think by coming to the org and bad-mouthing Prince that they have the upper hand. However, he's human and he has his values and personal beliefs about what is right and he's not going to let it go as long as he stands within his rights.

I think if the org shows Prince some respect and forgiveness he might ease up a bit and I don't think he could ever shut this site down, unless it becomes a bootleg discussion place only and I don't see that happening. If he shut down the vault that would be awful, it's a fantastic source of information with great overview and he'd be making a huge mistake. Here, we have a colourful, vibrant multi-cultural community although admittedly, not everyone is really globally or culturally aware which is why they sterotype so easily.Sometimes when this place gets so anti-Prince it could also be seen as damaging to his reputation in that any new-comers get the wrong impression of him.

Remember, he's never here to defend himself, which he probably often has to do against the press, e.g. Paris concert of 14 July. Continuing to add fuel to the fire when he doesn't owe us anything is not a smart move. There are limits to freedom of speech when it comes to inciting hatred and people on here would never say the things they do to people in society in situations where there would be consequences. So I think we should also think a little bit about what quality of freedom we actually have when we smear the net with dirt. We have young kids on here sometimes. If you don't owe it to Prince, you certainly own it to the younger generation to be decent.

But not all is lost, I'd say you guys have to break off into small groups (selective) , run and set up things all in code names. Ignorance is bliss so as long as they can't find it, no harm done. And then no bla bla on the org. Good luck!!

Yet, no one owes him anything either.

Well looks like Prince has decided to shit on another dedicated web page (granted he wasn't in favour of bootlegs). Big thanks to everyone who helped me choose what recordings were best and other such info. Hope one day he decides to lighten up a bit.

I would say that his main source of income comes directly from the fans that are obsessed enough to collect bootlegs or to create websites discussing him and his work. Those are the same people that buy every release and they are probably the only people that would consider buying an Andy Allo CD because he's on it. That's the truth and we all know it.

It seems, Prince would like to ignore this fact and believe that we are somehow stealing from him when in reality we're the only ones left that are happy to give him our money for his art.
