Now, he announced another tour to promote the shit album of andylotion, the sole reason he's doing that tour in Chicago. I honestly thought he was working on a new album, but instead he's doing another "hits and covers" tour.

Prince can shut the Digital Garden website down because whoever is running it lacks the resources or the inclination to fight back. Prince.org is only here because Ben (along with the owners of two other sites) stood up in 2007 and refused to allow Prince to trample on their free speech rights. Faced with resistance, Prince backed down: however, this site has various self-imposed restrictions to keep the peace.

In my opinion Prince is a paper tiger. It's easy for him to have lawyers send out cease-and-desist letters, but I can't imagine him ever actually showing up to testify in a trial if it came to that. The irony is that the main reason old-timers still come to Prince.org is to find out about the latest bootleg releases, and yet this site is one of the few remaining platforms for him to promote things he wants us to know about, like Andy's CD and his Chicago concerts. If he kills off the bootleg discussion while refusing to release anything from the vault, people are going to lose interest altogether and he'll be playing to crowds who don't know the words to any of this songs.

That's why I continue 2 buy & download bootlegs, because if I don't I'll never hear the multitude of live shows, rehearsals, & outtakes that he has. He's never gonna release any of this stuff and pretty soon all of his official releases will be out of print anyway...

yes I would donate to this site & also the Digital Garden as well - I never have a problem donating or paying for things if I have to as I feel so much work and expense goes into them, then why not give something back? I am very disappointed about DG - one of the best sites on the net - and only an information site - he did not even have links or anything, he really is being singled out on this with no validity at all.

In another thread I made a challenge to Prince. If he lifts the ban on TDG before midnight tomorrow, I'll fly to Chicago for his concert. I have plane tickets on hold until then. Otherwise, I'm not coming.

Maybe if enough of us made this challenge, he might notice?

I tweeted Dr. Funkenberry and posted a comment on his website to ask why Prince did this. I just don't get why Prince would pull a move like this right before announcing a new concert. Why send out bad vibes when you want people to see your show? TDG had been up for a while so it's not like this was an urgent issue.

Dude, if there are no info on his live perf, but more mouth propaganda, it will add more to his everlasting image of the baddest live artists of all time. This is what he wants....

Also, he wants to promote the Mrs.nelson album, allolotion crap with the 9 piece militia gang.

I imagine it fits well with the cover songs and all...

But TDG was not a website devoted to cataloging his live performances per se, rather the various bootlegs of those performances as well as studio stuff. I just don't see much benefit to him in shutting it down, and a lot of downside in the form of negative publicity right before his Chicago concerts. If he wants to make a point about bootlegs, why not sue Eye Records and the other ripoff companies that are making a profit from them?

Well, you should know by now that Prince doesn't care about your opinion; the real question is: do you want to see him live in concert or not? If you do, then you know what to do; if not, then don't. None of this media crack-down is new...

I do want to see him in concert. I don't want to fly to Chicago and take two days off to do so. So I'm conflicted about it. I regret not going to the Eatons Hills aftershow when I had the chance - and regret is a horrible thing.

I would never let an opportunity go by again.

You may feel you don't want to go now but believe me, when the event is on or just afterwards - you will have regret if you dont go.

I don't know. I could have gone to the other W2A shows but I didn't, and I don't regret that. Chicago is easier for me to get to, so it's tempting, but part of me wants to cherish the memory of seeing him on the Lovesexy tour and not sully it with a memory of the greatest-hits show he is apparently putting on these days.
