Sources: Prince in talks with city about St. Paul concert

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Prince is exploring the potential to have a concert in downtown St. Paul next month. MPR News has learned that the artist has been in talks to have a show downtown, possibly Sept. 15, but not inside the Xcel Energy Center.

People with direct knowledge of the situation say Prince is in talks with the city about dates, locations, permits and security.

A statement from the city said St. Paul won't confirm or deny discussions with Prince, but said there is no formal contract or agreement with him at this time for any shows in the city.

If it happens, it would be the third high-profile event the city has landed, including the Red Bull Flugtag glider competition that brought nearly 100,000 people to Harriet Island and the city's riverfront in the summer of 2010. Red Bull also staged Crashed Ice, a downhill skating competition staged before large crowds on Cathedral Hill in January.

Sounds interesting. Probably to coincide with the release of Andy Allo's album. The wheels are turning once again cool

Rodeos are always fun--I used to go to a lot of them as a kid. smile The real irony about the Prince W2A shows, for me, was that I traveled to see Prince in New York in 2010...and then a few months later he showed up suddenly with a week's notice at a city near me available to public transit! eek mad lol

Opening up Paisley P for a nice intimate concert?!? I'm there. Please give us at least a 2 week notice.....thx. smile
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

falloff Oh, RodeoSchro! My bad. biggrin Have you seen he and his band perform? And, yeah, it was great seeing Prince perform with Sheila E. in Oakland. Best of the W2A performances that I saw--they still have a real chemistry on stage--when they are getting along with each other, that is! lol

Yeah, Larry was in Oakland, too... The first night it was okay, but he performs the same exact set everytime... I heard some clips from his new album and his voice...isn't what it was...when it was good... Stick with playing and singing bass, Larry...not solo... razz

Yes, indeed he did. lol How did you ever guess?! razz

Oh, man...you remind me of when I went to see Morris Day and Half-time a couple of years ago... He had a segment when he invited ladies from the audience to come up for a dance-off. I was chicken-shit, as usual, but Morris got a variety of shapes, shades, and ages on the stage. There were a couple of really great-looking young ladies...but guess who won the dance-off? An ole school gramma with a mustache...who could get down... falloff Morris capped on her but he couldn't deny that she was the best dancer out of the group... The days are long ago and far away when Morris had young chicks who could dance falling all over him... lol Still love the Original Seven's album in saying that...and really enjoyed seeing Morris and the guys perform. smile

Well, let's see what he'll do.

It looks like a one off concert.

Will he just relax and do the hits?

Will he do something w.r.t. Andy's new album?

Will he do something new from himself?

Sigh.

Get ready to be groped by the TSA.

Be aware that you can be held against your will indefinately, legally and without due process.

Especially when over there and even if not there. (see extraordinay rendition)

When you're there have a good look around and check your visuals against what you know of the economic and financial crimes that are happening there.
