Fantasy Prince Tour Setlist

Dear .Org,

What songs would you like to see Prince perform live in concert within his MAIN shows to accompany what is rumoured to be the new Prince album set for release this Autumn?

Personally speaking, I would like to see a completely revitalised show featuring the following musicians: J Blackwell, Rhonda B., Renato Neto, Eric Leeds,, Sheila E. and Prince.

Locations: Minneapolis, London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, Rome, Athens, Prague, Stockholm, Barcelona, Geneva, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Munich, Moscow, New York, Chicago, Detroit, L.A., San Francisco, San Diego, Singapore, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Sydney.

A NEW TOUR

01. Crystal Ball

02. Play In The Sunshine

03. Crucial

04. Boom

05. Splash

06. Lemon Crush

07. Private Joy

08. It's Gonna Be Lonely

09. Computer Blue

10. Lion of Judah

11. Silver Tongue

12. Arboretum

13. Better With Time

14. And God Created Woman (slow rock version a la I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man)

15. Comeback (slow rock version)

ENCORE 1.

16. What Do U Want Me 2 Do?

17. Willing & Able

18. When The Lights Go Down

19. In This Bed, I Scream

ENCORE 2.

20. Just A Long As We're Together

21. Lavaux

22. Do It All Night

23. We Can Funk

ENCORE 3.

24. Positivity

Duration of Show: 2 hours 30 minutes

Soundboard Quality (for bootleg recordings): EX

THE QUESTIONS:

1. What would you absolutely LOVE Prince's new live setlist to look like, and which players would you really appreciate in the band?

2. Where in the UK, Europe, U.S.A. or Asia would you like him to perform? And would you like to see Prince perform further afield e.g. Africa?

3. Would you like a new Prince album or would you be content with the live shows? If you would like to listen to Prince's new album, how long would you ideally like it to be?

love,

Spirit

Whooo boy. I don't know if this live set is in the order I want it to be, or if its complete. But here's a stab at it:

1. For You (Intro)

2. Rock N Roll Is Alive

3. Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic (Heavier Rock Style like in Small Club)

4. Purple Medley (I mean lets be realistic, you gotta put the hits SOMEWHERE, and a Purple Medley would do a good job at doing that, but with live instruments.)

5. Good Love

6. Housequake

7. Space

8. Batman Medley (A verse from The Future, Electric Chair, Lemon Crush)

9. Partyman

10. Vicki Waiting

11. Dinner With Delores

12. When You Were Mine

13. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

14. Strange Relationship

15. Ballad Of Dorothy Parker

16. Future Soul Song

17. Love (Acoustic Guitar)

18. When 2 Are In Love

19. The Question Of You

20. Joy In Repitition

21. NPG Medley (New Power Generation, Sexy MF, Get Off, Get Wild)

22. Slow Love

23. Come On

24. Pretty Man

25. Last December

Again, that was in no particular order, I just scanned through itunes and picked out songs that I felt would make a good medley or would sound cool live.

His Band (just a random idea which will probably never happen... At least I can dream...): Michael B on Drums, Shelia E. on Percussion, Wendy and Lisa on Guitar and Piano, Rhonda Smith on bass, Madhouse doing horns, and Dr. Fink doing synths.

Location Wise, I'm not too picky except I'd want a million shows in New Jersey since I live there and would go to each one of them razz

If I had to pick, I'd love an album... But nothing too long, 45 minutes TOPS. That's what I liked about albums like Come, Dirty Mind, Controversy, and Parade. They're all short, but sweet.

Purple is the color of my heart,
Bruised from you leaving me.

Woah woah woah, what kinda rock have I been under lately? Whats this about a new album I'm hearing?

And if that is true, I would totally be willing to scratch off MOST of my setlist just for him to perform his new album through completely, then maybe some hits to wrap things up. (The hits come during an encore though.)

There is no new album planned for release this autumn, nor anytime soon.

all these setlists are nice. but surely you know he wouldn't sell 100 tickets to any one show and would no longer have the funds to record or perform again.

I think we all know that. My dream was that he would do smaller shows in smaller venues then save his Best Of antics for the big venues. And just to appeal to a wider audience I threw in the hits as a medley.

I want 2 hours of instrumental jazz-funk jams, mostly improvisation.

And NO HITS!

Prince is rich enough as it is: he could sometimes play a tour of less accessible material in smaller venues: there IS an audience for non-Top 40 music.

Absolutely! In hindsight, I should have checked who created the thread before I opened it.

It might help you next time around.

Actually, my eyesight is extremely good - but thanks for your concern. I saw a thread entitled "NEW Prince Tour Setlist", and my first thought was that I didn't even know there was a new tour. Obviously, it seemed interesting. Had it been more accurately titled, indicating the intent for people to discuss their ideal tour setlists (and, curiously, locations visited) then I wouldn't have opened it.

I'd like to keep it a bit realistic and think about how a possible 'Lotusflow3r Tour' would have looked like. It's a bit of a compilation of what we've seen live the last few years.

I'm Yours (or) Joy In Repetition (I just can't choose)

Colonized Mind

Crimson & Clover

Stand / Turn Me Loose

Alphabet Street

$ (and/or) Chelsea Rodgers

1999

I Feel 4 U

Controversy

Mutiny (or) Let's Work (or) Sexy Dancer/Le Freak

(Semi) Acoustic part

Songs like: Cream, Girl, All Day All Night, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, Little Red Corvette, Sometimes It Snows In April, Pink Cashmere

Forever In My Life (bass jam)

Dear Mr. Man/If U Want Me To Stay

Spanish Castle Magic (Jimi Hendrix cover)

When U Were Mine

Bambi

Computer Blue

Stay (David Bowie cover)

If I Was Ur Girlfriend

Kiss

encore

Fury

Let's Go Crazy

Delirious

encore2

Dreamer

Other songs that might be nice for variation: 17Days, Power Fantastic, Laydown, She's Always In My Hair, Guitar, Wall Of Berlin, Boom, 3121, The Dance, Sexy Dancer/ Le Freak, Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad?, A Million Days, The Question Of U, Endorphinmachine, Shhh, Ol'Skool Company, The Love We Make, When We're Dancing Close and Slow, Empty Room, The One U Wanna C, Adore.

Trashcat,

Your 'other songs for variation' list is more appealing, although I have to admit, you've got an extraordinary capacity for logical, grounded, analysis of his current setlist, alongside a touch of genius with your sequencing.

The cat has impressed; and very far from trash.

Utter nonsense. It wasn't a failure of eyesight, it was a failure to pay sufficient attention.

Lianachan,

Thank you for your reminder of the absolutely inappropriate negativity which has already been displayed here by what can only be described as a bully hiding behind a "mask".

Amongst few others, you are the person who has felt justified in the FIRST place of being negative in manner, tone and behaviour, towards me. If you are finding yourself tired now, then I am sorry to hear of your plight. Perhaps, in the future, you might not seek to cause harm first?

Sure, but it won't help.

The best chance of haveing a `non-standard` (yes, you know what I imply) setlist is at an aftershow, but even there he can play hit materials.
