Two consecutive years with no new album. Many years since his last proper tour. Is Prince over?? Seems like a pretty dull time to be a Prince fan. Is the past all we've got now??

Songs like Purple Storm, No more money Bank, Broke Faktory, Rebirth of the Christ, The Cross II : I finally realised he won´t be coming back and safe our ass ( he still has 2 check this with the Jehova gang and Larry), Larry (original was Lisa), Hot Planet, When the poor cry, Hide the throne, Grandma Nikki...and many more 2 please the 80´s crowd

Hehe - this made me laugh. Prince fans have been way to spoilt. I think he is pretty generous really, and I find plenty to keep me entertained in both his catalogue & also the boots (Man when will I ever find time to hear all of those that are around?).

And not to mention the great tour he just did here in Australia - knocked my socks off and now I am even more obsessed !

My only complaint is the lack of DVD/visual stuff we have - badly need a good quality concert to come out on DVD - so desperate for that.

Heeey Prince as u can see we're sooo0oo bored...forget about releasing an album can u do more US tours or do another surprise appearance on a talk show or go on a public date with Andy at least or SOMETHING!!!

This is a public forum, you are going to get all types of people posting and a lot of different comments. yeah there is nothing worse than participating in an intelligent discussion and critique of one of earths best musicians and along comes some huge fan of prince's eyelashes who whines every fucking chance they get if people don't kiss prince ass every second ..

some of us think its a huge waste of time to say how great prince is all the time .. because its not honest or a discussion of reality in any way ... there are people here with a deep and non superficial knowledge of both music and prince .. yet some prefer this site to be and endless commentary on "list yer favorite prince record or song" .. this site would be nothing without those who don't care for prince recent work .. those people contribute far more and know far more and because of that .. have a better perspective on the reality of prince music ... and make for a better discussion

some of us have been on this site for 25 years .. just because prince music sucks means we shouldn't come here anymore .. hell prince would have sued this site into oblivion if he had his way ... so what the fuck does being nice to prince have to do with anything?

as for the op question: i have a bad feeling that prince thinks waiting 3 years to put out a record will increase the sales of the next release .. i sincerely doubt he will improve the music tho. it's like how his "fams" think his music doesn't sell because prince is old .. no .. it doesn't sell because the music blows .. prince will think it will sell if he waits to release it .. no .. it won't ... if he puts out a GOOD record it will sell ... is it over? lets hope so .. if we wait 5 years and he drops another steaming poo .. ugh .. maaan if he keeps this up nobody is gonna care when he does finally make a good record again .. and that would be sad

I know pretty much for a fact that Prince has recorded new songs.

Whether they will ever be released is anyone's guess.

My advice is just live your life and if you get some new Prince songs, then you get some new Prince songs. If you don't, well you still have your life!

your knowledge of music is shocking to say the least. You claimed that Prince could not keep perfect timing without a click track, you were proven wrong, and yet you stubbornly refused to admit you were wrong.

You claimed that Prince was not a good riff writer because riffs like "she's always in my hair" were simple and easy to play. When it was pointed out to you that alot of famous riffs are simple (walk this way, smoke on the water etc) you did not even respond. You even tried to claim that wendy and lisa were robbed off songwriting credits on SOTT. Whereas the reailty is that they did not co write anything on that album and have never claimed to do so.

There are people who legitimately like his recent work, we are not kissing anyone's ass. Plenty of fans enjoyed lotus3flower,3121 etc. It might be hard for you to believe but we don't pretend to like something. And no, Prince would not be suing this site if a bunch of whiny ex fans stopped posting.

what intelligent discussion do you partake in? Making up nonsense about songwriting credits, click tracks etc? your claim of parade being a jazz album is easily the most laughable and absurd post i have ever seen on this website. Get some knowledge of music before claiming to be knowledgable, because you have gotten proven wrong over and over again.

your problem is your flat out refusal to accept that people might actually like his recent work. Plenty of us do. Its just like when you kept criticising the gold experience. Fair enough, you didn't like it. But it received good critical reviews from most critics and the majority of fans on this site liked it. Yet in your view, just becuse you didn't like it, everyone else must be kissing ass.

(1)Agree! He has such a magnificent back catalogue, almost a dozen albums in a decade (including projects), other artists only have about 5 or less!!!!

(2) Really disagree!!! I´ve always listened 2 all kinds of genres (Metal, pop, funk, rap...everything that´s good imo) and ALL artists that get older don´t sell that much as the years go by. That´s a fact and it´s nobody´s fault. For instance: Last week I heard 90´s millionseller Alannis Morrissette is playing at a festival in Belgium and it´s NOT Werchter or Pinkpop but smaller. How many albums did The Stones or Bowie sell from their latest?? Pearl Jam?? Van Halen???Sure, U´ll say those albums were also bad and not as good as Tattoo You, Let´s Dance, Ten or 1984...well; guess what, they are also older and their biggest succes is behind them..but at least they´re still around and do what they do best; make their kind of music!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And maybe U don´t understand this, but I love the latest Van Halen and I love Prince´s 3121 and a lot of songs from the last decade, NOT because I´m a fam (there are albums/songs I really don´t like!!) but because this IS the kind of music I love...so what???

BTW; Jamiroquai´s last albums weren´t as good as before but I won´t complain because I love his music and have respect someone who gave me a great time...I can discuss his latest albums but will NOT whine all the time on some fan site.....
