Ok now I LOVE THAT ALBUM - it makes me smile heaps - especially his little joke about getting his mom's tampons.

I like the book too - I often listen to that album when I want a giggle or two. The first time I listened to it made me feel like I was there.

Not much of his I dont like to be honest, my biggest problem is finding time to listen to it all.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Yes, made me feel like that too. But that's because I was there for both the shows the release was taken from. headbang

Don't understand the hate this gets.

I love the entertainer/alexander's ragtime band horn into to 3121 smile

Haven't actually listened to the cd start to finish in ages though, there was a lot of criticism for overdubs at the time? Or was it just how unrepresentative it was of the shows themselves?

It was something along those lines.

This release, and the free hotel brouchure that was attached to it, could have been brilliant, but it was half arsed, and the book is a waste of paper.

At least there are plenty of bootlegs covering both the main and aftershows (or jams or whatever the fuck people call them these days) for the people who wish to dip into that period.

I agree, but i really like a few pictures. Like the picture of Prince wearing the Yellow hood outside the O2 venue, and the two page spread of prince in rehearsal with the purple bass. Other than that the book is cheesy. As for the disc, I wasn't a really big fan of the band and the tracks that Shelby sang on. It was nice to hear "3121" played and "Song Of the Heart"(albeit that was way to short and I wasn't really crazy about the arrangement. It gave me the "Down Home Blues"). I might pop that in later today but I usually wind getting half way through it and then putting on an aftershow that I love like New Morning Club 87 or Camden Palace 88. That opus edition was such a joke. When I saw the video of the a guy on youtube opening it, I couldn't believe how junky it was. What a waste of money!

Yes, there were a few quite good pictures. I like the yellow hood one you mention.

As for the opus version....i'd still like to see the docu footage, maybe it'll surface one of these days.

2008

The remark of P during the show about him being a victim of not being possible for going outside is a weird contrast tot the heavy sleeve that comes with the cd.

Imho it was a missed opportunity for showcasing the aftershows.

The hinted 28th show in a FB post would have been brilliant (but a bit out of scope with the glossy pics).

We can only hope (but you know how those Opus collectors are, they really know quality hardcore pieces and have great taste) but judging from the rest of that project I wouldn't have my hopes up on it being quality footage. I'm really surprised that after a year( I believe) that doc or whatevr it is was never surfaced. Whats also great aka shitty about the Opus is theres aspects of the Opus that was not what was promised. Thats false advertising.

Peace Big Chick

Was at the last aftershow and believe that some of tracks come from then. Yeah, I also don't understand the hate for this; sure it could have been better but still think its a really good live album.

Love this CD.

The fact that there isn't a lot of guitar on it allows me to fill in and jam.

The only weakness is "Girls and Boys"...

Peace.
