Superhero Does anyone else remember this song?. I remember i got hold of it around 10 years ago, it was a really fun song, must have been a bootleg?. Haven't heard it for a long time, does anyone know where it came from? We're here, might as well get into it. | |

It's song that Prince wrote and produced,and gave it to Earth Wind and Fire.It appears on their 1993 Millenium album.
A year later,the NPG released their own version...it appeared in some movie. | |

There was an import single for it as well with a remixed version. When  go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all  up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! | |

I have the cd single somewhere, iirc.. with a few NPG versions on it.
I have never heard the Earth Wind & Fire version, but it should be really bad? Prince 4Ever. | |

It's not, but, I do like the NPG's version better. Actually, the best version is the outtake that morphs into a cover of Outta Space by Billy Preston. That's some fonky shit right there! Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'... |

but EW&F wasn't exactly big in the mid 1990s when this song was released,
I just haven't bothered to look for the E, W & F version, if you think it's ok or even good.. then fine..
ps. the music video to the NPG "Superhero"..
contains some really bad cartoons,
a really bad video... I used to have this on a bootleg VHS video tape..

The EW&F version is alright. Prince plays keys on it, iirc. That NPG outtake version with Outta Space that I mentioned is the one that does it for me though. Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'... |

Great song, particularly the unreleased NPG jam that includes Outta Space.

if you listen closely,you can even hear Prince on background vocals (I think).

I've been a fan for 22 years, digging all the obscure stuff that I could, being really HARDCORE about this y'know, and still every week or so I learn about some obscure release or promo I'd never heard about
I had no idea there was a video for Super Hero...

I don't remember this either. And, it's not like I wasn't aware of the project at the time. I have the soundtrack, the single and even the movie on DVD. This video should have been a bonus feature.

Wow. Just wow. I'm impressed by the number of videos Prince made. I mean, we're discovering official videos that almost nobody knew existed 18 years later. Amazing. |

I wrote by memory, and you are right,
the "cartoon video" = MPLS. (Silly me for confusing these 2 videos)
But like you write also.... there's a video to "Superhero" as well,
rather awful - but still the music is funky.
So nice to see Michael B., Babarella, Morris Hayes, Mayte, The Steeles etc...
