What do u think of a duet album

I'm not sure if there has been a thread about this before but i think it would be cool if Prince did a duet album with modern day artist, kind of like what tony bennett did.

What do u think?

If done well, it'd be great, but looking back on other collaborations such as Sheryl Crow, Gwen Stefani & Kate Bush, whoever he worked with would most probably find themselves so buried in the mix that it'd end up being a bit pointless.

Not really. He just used some other celebrities to pad out songs or sing backup. There were no real duets on Rave.

Prince’s ego is just too big for a duet album to work.

This is one situation where I am grateful for the ego. I honestly can't think of one great duets album. But meh, Prince has done worse.

Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

You know what I mean. For it being Prince, it was a duets release.

Ani DiFranco, Gwen, Chuck D, Larry, Sheryl Crow

Prince is a genius at writing duets that match the girl's abilities. His only slip up was "So far, So Pleased" where he did NOTHING to bring out Gwen's strange but iconic voice.

Arms of Orion--I hate that song, but Sheena Easton does sound gorgeous in it.

You got the Look--great use of her again.

Love Bizarre--did great things with Sheila's limited vocal range.

Take Me With You--Appolonia couldn't sing to save her life, but it works in the song.

So, I think he could pull it off. I'm just not sure he would pull it off. He doesn't like to be predictable, even if he has to do stupid shit to achieve it.

Perhaps a mystery duet album, where the listener has to try to work out who on earth is buried in the mix?

I think it would be interesting if he was appearing on other singers tracks

unlikely considering how few 'duets' he has relased though.......these spring to mind

take me with u (apollonia)
love song (madonna)
u make my sunshine (angie stone)
u're still the one (marva king)
the arms of orion (sheena easton)
nothing compares 2 u (rosie gaines)
beautiful loved and blessed (tamar)
u got the look (sheena easton)
we can funk (george clinton)
love sign (nona gaye)
however much u want (mayte)
elixir (bria valente)
a love bizarre (sheila e)

Is Sheena Easton busy? Prince and Sheena are like Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton...natural duet partners!

All good things they say never last...

Adorecream

Possibly with Camille, Spooky Electric or Symbolina

Or maybe just have a guest producer like Jamie Starr, Joey Coco or Alexander Nevermind if he's not too busy.

Basically what I am saying is NO!!!!

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

no.

And from seeing interviews where she mentions Prince, I doubt another duet would happen.

Since she regenerated from a down to earth Glasgow lass into a patronising, blazé yankee-doodle-diva, I don't think there'd be a stage large enough to house both their ego's at the same time.

wink

I actually like that idea.

Next to a duet with singers, I would also love to hear a 'guitar duet' with Santana.

And what about a duet with Nick Cave?

I hope he restrains himself from duets with barbie dolls like Beyonce and Rihanna.

I have a weak spot for Alicia Keys, though. However, I had that polished voice, it's so 'empty'.

I also would love to hear him together with Macy Grey.

Hey, and my current favorite, Anouk.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I think an album of about 10 songs featuring Prince and another artist would be fantastic! Here's my dream setlist:

1. Prince & Justin Bieber

2. Prince & Marilyn Manson

3. Prince & "the next winner of X-Factor"

4. Prince & Garth Brooks

5. Prince & Robin Thicke

6. Prince & Michael Buble

7. Prince & Tom Cruise (single release to coincide with "Rock of Ages")

8. Prince & will.i.am

9. Prince & Usher

10. Prince & Coldplay

Bonus Track: Prince and prince

*shudder*

No, I prefer him with his own voice on lead and background. I like the harmony.

I will say Chante' Moore sounded soft and pretty on La, La, La, Means I Love You. Her voice sounded nice with his. Some others definitely don't. Not everyone blends in well with Prince. Perfectly good songs are messed up with the other person's voice. Ugh.

I want to hear him, not all these other people.
