PRINCE Live | Cover versions | Old Songs | New Jams

Dear Prince.org,

How do you feel about Prince continuing to recreate epic cover versions, like Just My Imagination, for his live performances?

Would you prefer it if he primarily focused on recreating his own extensive back catologue, like Computer Blue, for example?

Or would you prefer to hear extended stretches of his new music live?

love,

Spirit

anytime P covers just my imagination it's all good but I would always go for new music.

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

I wouldn't mind a little bit of all, however, I'd really like to hear outtakes more that covers. New jams always welcome. I loved the Dance electric (but I didn't know it was a cover & I'm very surprised it doesn't show up from these concerts.) I'd like to see that being performed live. Prince should do the music for another movie too, for sure. He has a talent for extended story-lines.

@SpiritOtter

I do appreciate how Prince varies his set lists - I don't know of any other artists who do that so kudos for that - i don't think we give enough credit for that.

Being completely selfish - I'd appreciate less of those covers he has been performing for a number of years now - (we all know which ones they are)

In fact I could do without any covers during his hits run - there are so many medleys/ truncated hits being played that I feel compelled to question why he doesn't simply flesh them out some more.

I do like the addition of associated artists material (Cool/ Mutiny/ Dance electric/ Love Bizarre)

But why no TRC, 3121 material - there are some fantastic tracks from both he could easily work into his present itinery (no more obscure than some of the above tracks to some mainstream concert goers)

I guess Prince rolls with what motivates him so all's good.

I'm cool with it. I got introduced to Billy Cobham, Sam&Dave and many other artists from watching Prince concerts cool U know, he's always into "educating" the new generation and stuff.
