Those numbers mean ZILCH to any self-respecting publisher.

Why not go to kickstarter.com and finance it yourself?

Troy is an amazing artist. His work goes beyond Le Petit Prince.

Le Petit Prince was featured recently on Seatle TV. You can visit Troy

Not true according to a friend with 10+ years in the publishing industry. I have, of course, considered self-publishing and financing, but I want this book to have wide distribution, and I just don't see how I could get it into the mass market on my own.

Maybe if we're talking about people with hundreds of thousands of likes. Hint: you ain't gonna reach that goal by "advertising" at a website that has a couple of hundred active members.

(Please note: I said "self-respecting publisher" -- I'm sure there's all kinds of amateur publishers that will print the craziest things, as long as you pony up the costs.)

Also: wide distribution? Have you got any idea how many books are published each years?

You're proposing an (expensive) book that features art that is currently available for free online. Considering that a gorgeous book like "Prince: Life and Times" by Jason Draper doesn't seem to have sold that well, what makes you think there is a market for your book? This thread has not even a thousand views, and a mere dozen or so reactions.

There is a world of difference between someone (re-)tweeting a link to your website and someone actually spending money on your book.

Seriously: go the route of http://www.kickstarter.co...ok-project ; figure out the actual costs of getting something printed and let the market speak.

Thanks for the input, Bart. Support is support, and every little bit counts, and you have to start somewhere. You seem pretty condescending, but I appreciate the effort and will try to see your comments in a positive light.

I'm familiar with Kickstarter. Also, there's at least two times the amount of stellar work (which is growing daily) held back for the book that is not available for free online. And in my humble estimation, this book encompasses a lot more than Prince alone: art, photography, dolls, craft, pop culture, etc.

Thanks again for your time and thoughts.

Best to you,

~TG

Don't mind him, troy. I think he's being condescending of the org itself, not you, and most of his posts are kind of pessimistic on every topic.

So the book will encompass more than Prince - sounds like a great idea! As someone else already mentioned, you are an amazing artist beyond Le Petit Prince, so it'd be great to incorporate your other artistic ideas into this project.

Apparently, pointing out facts is considered being condescending these days.

Thanks so much! I meant that the book will be attractive to more than just the loyal Prince fanbase - it's a Le Petit Prince book only.

Thanks again for the kindness!!

Besides I got to have that doll! So hit Troy back and I want to see that board lit up! If not I goin' sad then I'm gonna bawl and tell on you.
