Remember, in addition to the song, Prince sent Paul and Terry the YouTube video of the little kid saying "Thumbs up for rock and roll!" I think that's a good sign...

Ummm...u mean the vid of the MPLS kid that started with "I feel happy of myself"? wink

Mya

I listened to it a couple of times in a row, then went & listened to a couple of bootleg/outtake versions, then played it yet again & the conclusion is .. FUCK YES nod

I wasn't feeling it at first but now I can't stop listening (or sit still) to the damn thing touched I love how he asks for a reprise of the chorus "One more chorus, I love that!" He's just too damn funky for his own good bow

Context aside (although I took it as he's invited F-Deluxe and O7 to be the support act) I love this nasty little jam. I hope someones keeping track of all these jams.

Also do you think he's heard all the negativity about Andy and decided to remind everyone about how good his related artist stuff is. He seems very focused on his legacy of related artists at the mo Andre Cymone, The Family, The Time

Sigh.... disbelief

This has the possible makings of something, but that's about it. And I'm probably being way too nice with that statement. The siren was hellannoying, and those Vegas horn stabs and weak ass synths need to go (at least the Hammond is out front).

Also, Shelby's ass is waaaayy too audible, and I can only imagine the arm wavin' shit she's doing on the stage. Girl, sit yo' overpowerin' ass DOWN somewhere!!!!!! And again with the lyric changes, Prince? "We're taking back the ship"? Just doesn't sound right.

So, to get this figurative taste out of my mouth, I'mma go listen to Mutiny 1986 to hear to how it SHOULD be done...with passion and REAL funk, and I'd highly advise everyone else to do the same. Oh wait, Bart already did...dat's muh boy!!!

He's been doing the Mutiny chant for years hasn't he?

Ice Cream Castles and Mutiny? Are we supposed to infer something from this? Can't he make a swipe at Larry instead, that's more 2012 than 1985.

I know the org is on the 'call everyone a hater' trip at the mo' - but this is pretty weaksauce for me. I dug the Dance Electric, but this reminds of the Soul Psychodelicide Revolution rehersal where they're noodling on a groove for 90 mins - What's so amazing about this bunch of replaceables that he couldn't get from anyone else?

One funky jam 4 sure!!! biggrin Loving it big time & will love it even more the more I listen. I'm miffed that Oz is so far away cuz these shows r just gonna be so amazing but lucky those who will b attending. I think the band are sounding really, really good!! Couple of things- The funky Dr said Terry got his answer in this jam; so hope it's the answer he was wanting! hmmm Prince also has changed some lyrics, am I right? 'Baby, with unity we wud never fall. Baby now there's mutiny, the court is in the ball. That's a dump' (?) Or am I just deaf? Then I'm sure I hear a 'baby brother' in there; a reference to Larry G- whatever is going on with that situation? Ah Prince, you give the answers that just lead on & on 2 so many other questions! Ha ha. But this jam is a real cracker! thumbs up!

I think some of you are taking this all too seriously - It's a rehearsal jam... that is all. Funky for what it is.

Sweet Jebus, this is one gigantic pile of dung. Oh, those painful "Mutiny" chants by those untalented backup singers.

Fully agree, once again!!

They managed to get all the funk OUT of this track.

It's OK. I think the Dance Electric rehearsal has some better musical moments. Also, the "we're takin' over..." part is gone from the chorus, which was my favorite part. Oh well. Still enjoyable.

The underlying groove is fine, the vocals are okay, but I find the organ / synth sounds hilariously bad. Then again, I never thought "Ice Cream Castles" was a very strong piece of music on its own right. Just lose that riff and it should be fine.

Very weak....The song sounds shit with the IceCreamCaste bits and the jamming is sooo boring!

Prince, i really fear u lost your fire.....

A good advice for you:

Start singing your songs

Dont jam every song for 10 min...it gets really boring, when u do that on every song

Dont let the girls take over ( I think they are your backing voices not the other way around???

I hope that the new show in may will be better that this...

huh? They are his songs. And to be honest, even though this is a bit dull for me, I'd rather hear him do stuff like The Dance Electric, Mutiny, etc than yet another Lets Go Crazy or Kiss 'by numbers'.

Yeah this is pretty lackluster...it just doesn't work that well. And you can't help but compare it to past live versions of Mutiny because we've all heard it done that much better.

I sent Bart a Nine Inch Nails video via Orgnote. He'll be shutting up for a while. lol

As for the song, very energetic! Nice mashup going on here. I thought it was pretty cool, but the Dance Electric rehearsal wipes the floor with it. Now it's stuck in my head. MUTINY!

Yeah, like toejam said, you're taking a rehearsal way too seriously. Geez...

Meh! Average at best. I know it's just a jam, but perhaps I would have enjoyed this more if Funkenberry hadn't overhyped it as some amazing piece of funk.

Everything Prince does these days is just 'safe' to the point that even his rehearsal jams are 'boil in the bag', perfectly produced dullness.

Oh well! sad
