What if....

....what if Purple Rain had been a flop?

Where would P be today? Do you think we would have gotten better or worse from him in terms of music?

Would he still have become a huge star or disappeared into obscurity?

What sayth my fellow orgers?

You mean if he had "directed" it like Under The Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge? It could have been a disaster. I'm glad they found the right director to channel his musical vision, otherwise it might have turned out like the Bee Gees' remake of Sargeant Pepper.

Are you talking just about the movie flopping? Because that'd still be okay as the music would have still propelled him to superstardom right along the trajectory of building from 1999.

If the record flopped as well?

I don't think the record would have done as well without the success of the movie to go along with it.

Just sayin...it would have been interesting to see how P developed as an artist without the mega success.
