What The? A 12 minute extended version of "The Dance Electric" w/Andre, Wendy & Lisa, & Tha Purple Yoda?

http://soundcloud.com/drf...2-extended

Drfunkenberry just twitted this on twitter; http://www.twitter.com/drfunkenberry

It's a 12 inch extended version of "The Dance Electric" by Andre Cymone. The official existing version of this song was a little over 5 minutes. This is 12 minutes!!!

You can hear Wendy & Lisa and I swear I hear Prince screaming in the mix.

Extra lyrics and that guitar solo at the end. Man!!!

Has this really never been out there til now?

I'm LOVING IT!!!!!!!!

It sounds similar to the version on Work It 2.0, but with Andre signing instead of Prince, and in better quality.

Yes and it's a different edit/mix. Also the some of the guitar and synth/keyboard playing was muted out on certain parts. If you've heard Prince's version along with Andre's extended version, you will see what I mean. The breakdown comes early on Andre's version as oppose to Prince's (when it's just the drums, Wendy, Lisa, and Andre singing the choruss).

If this were the Prince version it be pretty epic!

But Andre's vocals are kind of weak

His kitty screams near the end made me laugh lol

I wonder why this version was not released? You can see from the picture of the jacket that it's from an acetate. The explanation says that the acetate was cut on Prince's birthday, June 7, 1985 (or was that when this version was mixed)?

Is this available for download or am I missing it? I only see where you can play it. Anyone know how to download it from Dr Funkenberry?

Love it. Absolutely love it. Music like this is the reason why I fell in love with Prince´s music back in the days. I wish this would be re-released with Prince´s vocals without any changes to the music.

THIS is the true MPLSound. This is just brilliant, especially the last 4 minutes.

Love it.

I'm just listening to AC, the recent bbr remaster and wishing it had the full version of Dance Electric on it.

I get as far as Neon Pussy Cat and log onto he org and there it is.

This is one of my favorite songs ever.

The rip is very very choppy in the last minute or so which is a shame.

Hopefully it will be re upped without the error

I managed to download it using offliberty.

Judging from the little black and yellow tag at the upper right of the sleeve, the Doctor bought this rare treasure at an Amoeba Music store. I wonder how much he paid for it.

This is great such a shame about the end being fucked up.

Hopefully someone can put a fade it about the 10 min mark or fix up somehow.

Do you think it was messed up on purpose?

Just put together a great ep with this on it.

Computer Blue 7.30 min version
Modernaire
Sex shooter extended
The Dance Electric

This is the sound I love. This is the true sound of mid 1980's minneapolis.

Very cool. The funk workout after, guitar & grooves after the 6 minute point are awesome. It always seemed odd that Prince gave a song with that title away to somebody else. It just sounds so Prince-ified.

Any idea what's being said during the backmasking starting at 9:25 in the song? I know it's this song, but what part of it??? I recognize it from the Purple Rain shows right before he played The Beautiful Ones I think...

This is astonishing to say the least, even with the choppy ending! I'd been dreaming of getting a clean version of it for almost 20 years!!!

I wonder whether this stream has been Prince-approved or, at least, André-approved (André being the legal owner of that particular version's master). I'd tend to think that Funkenberry wouldn't fuck with Prince by releasing a bootleg without his consent, considering that he regaularly gets exclusives from Prince and wouldn't want to mess such a relationship. On the other hand this has been twitted and not signaled on the blog, as if wanting to keep a low profile about it.

Mmmh...

P leaked Andre's version?

Andre leaked his own?

P is still in the background, or who do I hear?
