We need your help, Prince fans!

Hi Prince fans!
We are a group of designers working on a research project related to the 1989 Batman movie.
In the music section we have a problem: we are unable to identify the Prince song that sounds between 16:27 and 17:55, in the sequence of the party at Wayne's Manor just before "Electric Chair".
We could not find the song on the album Batman, and we hope you can help us identifying it.
Thank you very much for your help! 001_happy

It's been a while since I watched that movie, but I think I remember Vicki Waiting also being played at the party!

the instrumental version of vicki waiting (which has extra guitar, it's a very different mix from the album version, more like it's part of an extended version like the scandalous sex suite) hasn't appeared on any boot

if you rip the dvd/bluray you could remove the centre channel to omit as much dialogue and foley to give the cleanest part (just as you can do on modinaire on purple rain), but it's still just part of the track

vicki waiting is on the batman album, track 5. the track was played live at a few of the gold experience era shows

more info here...

anything else you want to know about prince, just ask. he used to have an arclight outside paisley park showing the batsign at the time and there was talk of him buying the batmobile but i think mtv bought it and gave it away in a competition. the original 60s batman theme tune was the first tune prince learned to play on the piano, which he mentioned during his oprah appearance in 96 and played it on the piano

Oh, and by the way: did you know that Prince, MJ and James Brown all shared one stage at some point? Don't believe me? The video is out there!! Although rumour has it it's a fake...

Maybe that will help you with the research project shrug

Wow, thank you all for identifying the song, spetially Unique who gave us so many juicy data! This has been very helpful.
Happily we are pretty shure that this is the only unreleased/alternative Prince song in the movie.

If you want you can send us via pm your real names or just your forum nicknames, we would be happy to include your names in the acknowledgement section. We hope it will be published next year , and your help was indispensable.

Thanks again, noble Prince fans!

(Please excuse the irrelevant MJ, Prince and J Brown - it's all part of a running gag that's been going on for years on here...)

We're glad we could help and good luck with the project!

it's the only unreleased mix of a track in the movie, but there was another track called "dance with the devil" that was part of the sessions that remains unreleased. there is a circulating bootleg copy of the track taken from an early VHS cut of the movie

there is a track called 200 balloons that was originally in the movie in the section that now includes the song trust (you can see how it would fit in with the balloons during that sequence of the movie). the song was remixed and became the track "batdance", which used sections of a few other unreleased songs such as rave un2 the joy fantastic. 200 balloons became the b side of the single batdance, which also had remixes by william orbit who also remixed the future, electric chair and party man. the party man remix didn't get released but a mix of the future and electric chair was released on a 12"/cd single, and there is another unreleased remix of electric chair like a dub mix. there were other remixes of partyman released instead

another thing worth mentioning is that before prince gave his music to the project, the director tim burton used previously released music from prince to use as backing music to his dailys (ie. early rush cuts of the movie). tim and jack nicholson were both fans of prince and invited him to the set and prince came back a week later with all the tracks used for the movie. some of the tracks were recorded earlier and were changed to suit the batman project

if you do want to credit me, you can use my username "unique" which most people know me by, thanks. any other info you want, just ask. and if you want to see a video of michael jackson, prince and james brown together, or any of the unreleased tracks/mixes, just let me know
