RIP Clare Fischer No news link (yet), but it's been confirmed by fDeluxe and ?uestlove (who manages to misspell the man's name all the time, even when he is correcting himself).
Honor the man by spelling his name correctly when you write about him: Clare Fischer. http://www.clarefischer.com/
Seems there is a sticky @ http://prince.org/msg/5/375054 . IMHO this should be front-page news, and it belongs in this forum, since his contributions are an integral part of plenty of Prince's best music.

RIP CLARE FISCHER AND THANK-YOU

That's terribly sad news. His contributions to Prince's music added a layer that wrapped you up in positivity and made every hair on your body stand on end. His work on the incidental music of Under The Cherry Moon, alone, was entirely worth the entrance fee.

More people should know about his music. A great talent is gone. I am grateful to whoever thought combing funk rock and Clare Fisher would sound incredible together.

RIP
amazing to think that Prince and Clare had never met but Clare knew exactly what Prince was looking for every time.
Off to listen to Pink Cashmere
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

That song is awesome, to begin with - but Mr. Fischer's work made it sublime. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
