Let's Settle this CRAP right now

Would you rather have

1. A Prince album heavily... I MEAN EVERY DAMNED SONG.. infused with his brand of hip-hop and rapping.

2. Or an Andy Allo album written and produce by Prince.

The protege albums usually aren't bad; just not as good as a Prince album. But Prince is rarely successful with rap.

First, it's a Prince album. Second, even if it's absolutely terrible, there's the comedic value for years to come.

1., but hey, I loved the '90s era! I agree w/ your post about My Name is Prince vs. Bad - MNIP is just so crazy, crazy, awfully, awfully...GOOD. What a hot, HOT mess! Love it! For some reason, it reminds me of when you have to pee really, really, super bad, like your bladder's full up to your chest, and then you can let it go - it feels so good, what a relief! but you know it isn't good to pee that much at once, the stream is starting to burn and it's going on much too long. I know that doesn't make sense, but that's how I view Prince in the '90s.

P.S. I'd love to read your "analysis" of the Sexy MF video.

lol Good points. Actually I don't care either way. The Andy Allo album could be good, but I'd always take a Prince album over an associated artist album.

2. Prince had some quality efforts on the "Elixir" album. I have typically found some of his more inspired work to be on protege albums. So, yeah, the &Y album.

Didn't you just get Andy's album last week? Or was that someone else that said that?

A little unfair to say you're spinning her album more than 20ten when you've had hers a week and his a year and a half. Haha

Maybe if he had to do an entire album hip-hop style he would develop some skills instead of one off novelties. I doubt he would be all that interested in such a project, he seems to have moved on from that former fascination. I look forward to the &y album, and his new album whatever it is.

I am surprised at how different the answers here are!

Then again, I am not even sure myself what I would prefer... I do like Elixir and of course the older Sheila E. records and the whole protege back catalog, but then again, a "Prince album" is a "Prince album". It's fascination what a printed name on a jewel case can change, but I would probably really value a "Prince" album more than "just" an album he wrote the songs for and produced and recorded. His brand name and his singing give it a whole edge.

I'd take the Prince album. If it's full of "Now"s, "Mad"s, "P Control"s, "Laydown"s, "Ol' Skool Company"s, "New Power Soul"s and "Da Da Da"s I'll probably really like it.

Her version of The Look Of Love is horrible (and her version of Waiting In Vain - but maybe thats because Marley is sacred to me. Oh and I forgot Love Is A Losing Game) and her lack of skills on the guitar <-- that is maybe the reason for some of the hate. Some of that is pretty much Princes fault so maybe we should hate on him but shes an adult and could just say no. Another reason for all the hate could be that there are some strange strange people (read women) that will always hate on his lastest thing no matter what. Her style on Unfresh is more suitable for her but she can surprise me with this new album. I won't be bying her album (old or new) cause her voice doesnt do anything for me but I can see why some may like her.

So getting back to the question Id choose no. 1. I actually liked his 90's stuff.

I'd rather see Prince make a damn country/western album rather than a shit hop one. Anything but shit hop!

Andy is a four letter word.
