Prince working with Bootsy Collins

Can any1 confirm if Prince and Bootsy ever worked 2gether? Do they have any history 2gether? It just seems as if the 2 would make some serious funk 2gether. Prince has had some of the greatest bass players, from Brownmark, to Sonny T, Levi, Larry and now Ida. Thx in advance 4 any insights...both of these funkateers r legends in their own right.

The answer to your first question is no, they have never worked together.

thank you. part of me thinks they could produce great work 2gether, but another part wonders if Booty's personality might b 2 strong 4 Prince. but they seem 2 b on similiar cosmic trips tho. i just read:

"The secret that I learned," he explains from Bootzilla Word Headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, "is that you can not tell the Universe what to do. When the Universe is ready, it will tell you — and then you got to be ready. And when the Universe told me it was time to record my new album, Lord, I was ready!" So was an elite coterie of Bootsy's friends, a blend of musicians and cultural giants who took up temporary residence in Tha Funk Capitol of the World to help the illustrious Mr. Collins create a collective masterpiece so full of grooves, grit, guts and glory that he calls it "the best thing I've ever done — a whole new chapter in the life of Bootsy."

so, Bootsy and Prince r on the party-ethereal funkalicious vibration

Meeting someone and working with them are two different things.

It's quite possible that they have met.

It's only my pet theory, but I think the guest artist The One on Play With Bootsy is Prince. I just can't help but think every time I hear Groove Eternal, and Dance to the Music, that Prince had involvement in these songs. Not necessarily the lead vocal, but I swear I hear him the background vocals. The lyrics definitely reference Prince.

I feel that. Bootsy is not only a great bassist, but his craftmanship in song-writing and production are well-refined. From my side, I hope that eventually, the 2 could link up.

Hmmm... I'm not so sure. Putting two great musicians together does not mean the music will be twice as good. And with Bootsy being the only person in the world who can rival Prince in terms of charisma, I think Prince would risk being overshadowed by Bootsy on stage.

that is my concern...2 big ego's...2 little humility...but, it was a nice thought anyway...I can picture Prince on stage shouting "Bootsy!!!!"

Prince and Bootsy working together would be great! Two of my musical heros on one stage....However, Prince might not only be overshadowed musically...Man, Bootsy is twice as tall as Prince. I really think that this could be a reason for Prince not to be on one stage with Bootzilla....

BTW, there was some rumor that Prince was on Bootsy's 2002 album "Play with Bootsy", creditted as "One". Later these rumors prooved not to be true. However, the album definately has some purple sounding tracks...Check out "Groove Eternal":

.....In 1997, Prince and Bootsy WERE on the same stage when Prince introduced Parliament/Funkadelic in R&R Hall of Fame:

I was just gonna say this. My sster produced that with Joel gallen directing. Ii was backstage as i was helping her with production stuff and i can say they were both complimentary to each other in conversation and had each had a reverence for one another. i saw Prince introdue Mayte to Bootsy as his wife. It was a great night. Backstage at the time also was none other then Michael Jackson and Barry Gibb, Diana Ross, Mavis, Tom Pettry\, Feliz Cavalieri fron the the Rascals who also lives in MPLS

that is the original reason why I asked. it's like the LG, Maceo and recent Prince trio. Bootsy, like George Clinton, is one of the pillars of funk...it would be great to hear his bass in the NPG mix

Is it really only possible to post pics on here from a Photobucket account or Picasa? I am trying to post some cool pics Michael Weintrob did of Bootsy, went through the process of creating a Picasa on my Google and still can't find a url for the photos I wanted to share. Anyhow, maybe there's a simpler way that I don't know about, it just seems like a laborious process to share a simple photo, so I'll post the link:

http://www.michaelweintrob.com/#

and then click on INSTRUMENTHEAD
