Prince; Still an influence?

This was just on the radio...

If they weren't channeling Prince circa 1994/'Exodus' then it must be just a huge coincidence...

Anyone else heard anything lately and thought, 'hang on, I know that from somewhere...?'

This just sounds terrible. Superbad but not in a good way. Sorry

No need to be sorry - I didn't write it smile

My point was that it could have been an outtake from the Exodus sessions, even down to the Bob George vocals and style...

(I'd like to say though that Exodus knocks this out of the water)

Dude, if you hear Prince in that, then bless you. Where do you live that they played that on the radio? That is obviously a home recording.

If it weren't for the stupid lead vocals, I'd appreciate it.

Prince was THE influence during the 83-85 era

after that, the hard-dance sound of Janet's Control was established, and the rules changed

by the early-90s Prince wasn't an influence anymore, at least until the mid-90s modern R&B explosion, and you can say that Prince has influenced ANY modern-dance/modern-R&B artist (and their producers!) of the 00s decade, whether they would admit it or not...Beyoncé, Maroon 5, BEP, Neptunes, GaGa, Barkley, Chromeo, MGMT, etc
