Is Prince patient enough to....

With the current Extralovable remake version, some people here are speculating that P will release a whole album (or even more) with rerecorded tracks. I'm wondering, does Prince have enough patience to sit weeks (months) in the studio and rerecord so much of his old material? We all know he is bored rather easily....Around the time of the 1999 remake, he announced rerecordings of all his previous albums, but we only got a new 1999 (and that medley single).

Besides, I really would prefer the original versions of the vault material....as for new recordings, new songs please...

We don't want re-recordings, as Extraloveable and 1999 showed they are nothing compared to the energy of the originals...

We want either new music OR remastered Vault material!!

I think it's a pretty safe bet that Prince has already re-recorded at least a couple albums worth of unreleased material. Grafitti Bridge was 20 years ago and he was doing it even then.

how many people other than hardcore fans would have bought extraloveable if it was the original?

I would have, but if I was not a prince fan, then probably not. It is not commercially viable in 2days music world (sad 2 say). It would have done great amongst those fans that have the bootleg copy (if only 4 sound quality) but I don't think it would have placed in the charts the way that extraloveable 2011 has, IMO. I think @ 30+ years in the bizness, I say he can do whatever he likes and i would still support it. wink

I can't think of one song that is better once it's been re-recorded years later...Extralovable is good, not great like the original. We Can Funk is ok, not like the original and 1999 The New Master was a joke.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

speak for yourself. most of us really don't give a shit one way or another any more. our moral indignation is saved for the bigger issues in life. and there are even a few of us left who actually look forward to Prince music, whatever it is.

Yes, there's a name for those people - yes men or sycophants!!

I love Prince but I'm not so blinded by it to say everything he does is good, I am able to be honest with what he does well and when he is just not playing to his full potential...

pardon the fuck out of me to be willing to listen to whatever he's got coming out. I'm not blind to hiw flaws. I've historically been one of his biggest critics on here. but at some point, you have to get on with your fucking life instead of spending all of your time as a fan berating him and every thing he puts out.

you're just ranting on and on now, beating the dead point about how much you hate the Extraloveable remake.

you and some others don't like it. I and some others do. frankly, there are all kinds of songs, released and unreleased that I'd like to see him take another stab at. I mean, really, is anyone going to be upset if he remakes Big Tall Wall? it could only be improved.

I'd be down for him to re-record some of the more obscure tracks and b-sides if it would make him more motivated to play them live. But I don't need a re-recorded version of 'Purple Rain' or anything like that. Although I'd be into hearing 'Little Red Corvette' re-recorded like he's doing live right now. I love that version.

I don't berate him for everything he puts out, I loved Lotusflow3r and MPLSound and Bria's one..this and Planet Earth were his best albums since Eman..

It's just disappointing when he can produce good work and then butchers a great song and makes it totally shit sounding and like everything else in the crappy charts...

him releasing the song IS promotion... for the tour. same as a lot of his music has been for the last 5 years or so.

^ No it's not. People don't know something is OUT there just because it's been put there....you're confusing availability with knowledge of its existence...

It needs publicity, TV/RADIO ints etc....

The fact it wasn't even known about here on the .org when it was suddenly available worldwide means its no wonder it sank...
