That changes constantly. At the moment, mine are

1991 - 1994 (from Diamonds & Pearls - The Gold Experience) and

2001-2002 (The Rainbow Children, ONA-Tour and One Night Alone...Live!)

See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

I really don't have one. He has made great music throughout the years and as for his look, I don't care if he is in purple, peach or polka dots.

Look-wise, tour-wise, or music-wise? Or a mix of all three. confused

I think the 1983-1986 beats them over all, because the creative output was on a larger scale than SOTT-Lovesexy. And the SOTT music-connection can't really be attributed to the band performing outside of Dr Fink-Eric Leeds some Atlanta Bliss since they did a lot of playing on the Dream Factory music

I love 'em all but my favorite "era" is the 1999 era. So many great songs, and an electric atmosphere. Also a very mysterious feel to the whole album and era.

Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

It's a tie between the 'Parade' and the 'Sign of the Times' era.

Although i am not that fond of Under the Cherry Moon-movie, I love the Sign-'concert' movie and i think he created his best music from 1985 - 1987.

You'd think it'd be the "classic" years (1978-1989) cuz that's what I discovered when I became a Prince fan in 1989, and because they're obviously the mythic and most daring part of his career, but in the end, maybe out of nostalgia because I went thru 'em so intensively and grew up with them in my early 20's and also because I really dig 'em, it might be the so-hated "plastic years" (1996-2001). But in the end there's no "favorite era" of mine: I grew-up with Prince ever since I was 12 years-old (I'm now 35) and I have this feeling I grew-up alongside his music, and every album is kinda the soundtrack of such or such moment in my life. I just kinda love every era from For You to 20Ten. Sorry if my answer is disappointing cool

IMO the fashion styles and clothes were often distracting from his music.

In the early eighties 'camp' was like the mainstream in music-video's, so it wasnt such an issue, but I honestly think his fashion-'sense' has been more of a curse then a blessing to his career:

- The nude-cover from Lovesexy and the silly Peter-pan outfits from the Lovesexy tour did surely put some people off;

- The fashion-mess he offered in the mid-nineties (pale, whitecaked face, an anorexic looking body and face, and the word 'slave' on his cheek) surely didnt help his sales;

- Nothing wrong with a nice suit, but the The Time-like suits Prince wore during the '00 - '10's more echoed the image of some cheap, not to be trusted pimp, then someone with style and class.

But some people LIKE scary. smile

1991-94 (D&P - Gold); the '90s "angry" Prince (as someone above called it). Yes, even the butt-out pants stunt, Glam Slam, o(+> , the dirty old man get-up, the braids, Sexy MF... it was perpetually like, he's losing his mind!

But the '80s seemed like a great time. It just wasn't my time, though, age-wise. I do think "Erotic City" belongs in the '90s though.

people thought prince was "strange" in the 80's but he seemed even more strange in the 90's and really mysterious/reserved and left people in awes lol
