Should Prince's Birthday Be A National Holiday?

A day when everyone has a day off work so that they can spend it with their loved ones to listen to Prince's discography. To celebrate the gift of music he has given this world.

We can make a petition to get this signed. Or hand out flyers or something...I don't really know how people get national holidays, but I'll look into it.

In what country? I don't think the guy who wrote "Lavaux" is going to get a national holiday in the U.S. anytime soon. Or even a state "Prince Appreciation Day" in MN.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Why not? He deserves to have a holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas in my opinion. Look at how much people he has influenced, the amount of genius songs he has written, the amount of talent he has.

Someone like Prince deserves to be celebrated by everyone.

No. Let's wake up. There's so much more important things happening in the world smile

Why can't we (fans) just gather together and celebrate his birthday since Prince himself doesn't even celebrate his own wink

Or....hmm. If there was National Music Holiday (not just for Prince, music in general)....it'd be kinda cool

Right. Prince is right up there with Jesus. lol

I don't mean we should worship him, I just think in terms of having a holiday just for him. Imagine, instead of opening presents or gathering around a table for dinner, families will rush to open their new Prince playlist, talk about Prince's legacy, share jokes about him, dance to his music.

It would be absolutely brilliant.

Sounds like fun. Unlike Christmas, Princemas will not be commercialized. We won't forget the reason for the season. lol

This would be a great way to mock that silly 'I don't celebrate birthdays'-creed of the JW''s: the rest of the world has a International Prince Holiday!

Let's start small, in Luxembourg or Monaco. We'll call it The Sacrifice Of Victor-day.

Boys having sex with their sisters, housewives masturbating in hotel lobbies, people going crazy in elevators, girls going down on each other in the street while reciting the alphabet, sexy dancers doing sexy dances.... ooooh yeah it's gonna a beautiful day!

Now this sounds like a holiday I can get behind!

Wait, except that I don't have a sister and I can't dance. Oh well...at least I can go crazy in an elevator.

You're serious? I don't think any singer's birthday should be a national holiday; not to mention there's tons of musicians who would deserve a holiday more than Prince.

But c'mon. It's Prince, it's gotta be commercialized a little bit to have just the right spirit!

Let's see, debauchery, cupcakes AND purple kool-aid!?! This is shaping up to be my new favorite holiday!!!

Keeping in mind the music, this might be the greatest holiday in the history of holidays.

Sheeeiiit T, don't puff the whole thang. Pass that shit to a niqqa when ya finished.

In regards to the OP and the people that actually think this is a good idea, I think the purple Kool-aid had a little too much sugar in it. For fucks sake.

Seriously?

It doesn't matter, we as fans, will celebrate it for him.

I think Prince is the only person in the world right now who deserves to have a national holiday in his honour...and to be honest, I think it's quite disrespectful that he hasn't been given one.
