Will.i.am says Justin Bieber could be the new Prince/MJ

Will.I.Am: "Justin Bieber Could Be The New MJ" (Prince mention in article)

Will.I.Am has sensationally claimed that he believes Justin Bieber has got what it takes to replace Michael Jackson as the King Of Pop.

The Black Eyed Peas frontman, who is working with JB on his third studio LP, thinks the Biebster can fill the void Jackson left after his death in June 2009.

Speaking to Radio Disney about the 17-year old superstar, Will confessed: "I was with Justin Bieber in the studio two days ago, working on his new album, and we had a really great conversation."

"Justin Bieber could be like Prince. Justin Bieber could be like Michael Jackson where his career is like, for like, 'Wow! Explain its 2030, Justin Bieber, your career is so long. You’re the first artist to be broadcasted to Mars. How do you feel about that?' Justin Bieber could be that dude."

Will added: "That’s the conversation we had and then we started working on things from scratch like here right, I wanted to do something with Justin that probably no other producer would do or to took the time to think about to do. You know I’m excited about the stuff we’re making."

Jay-Z also recently hit the headlines for comparing his wife Beyoncé to MJ, stating that the Single Ladies hitmaker "inspired" him, much like Michael Jackson did.

Michael Jackson and Prince are very different, which one could he be like?

Tell you what, call me when he is like one of them cos right now he's just another disposable teen idol.

Justin Bieber is not an insanely talented, highly influential pop star and will never be. Prince and MJ are incomparable to any one else. I grant Justin Bieber all his success, but Prince and Michael can NEVER be replicated, especially not by a cookie-cutter teenage heart-throb.

Ridiculous comparison, these people are truly deluded.

That is one of the funniest and foolish statements that I have heard in...a day or two. lol Justin Beiber is overrated. Is he currently a success? Yes. Is he very marketable? Yes. However, he is vastly overrated. His voice is nothing short of ok. His dance skills are HIGHLY overrated. (His dougie made me laugh SO hard, along with his side glide and pop locking. What in the world! eek ). I do not see him around ten years from now, not even five (but I may be wrong). However, I seriously doubt it. Sorry, he is not and will never be the new Prince/MJ. No one ever will. The reason they are who they are is because they are themselves. I don't mean to sound so harsh on a kid but life is harsh.

Exactly! Why are people so caught up with being the next so-and-so or the greatest since so-and-so. Why can't people be content with being the best THEY can be instead of trying so hard to become another person?

And Mars. Really.

I love Will.i.am but he really is CRAZY on this one!!! Seriously? How could he even say that???? omfg He must be OUT of his mind! (He's been out his mind; since that weak performance at this year's Superbowl.... lol )

I understand JB gets a lot of hate (It does go out of hand too sometimes) from essentially everyone, and I won't discredit him totally. He can sing a bit, dance a bit, and play the drums a bit; BUT ALL of those BITS could never equate GENIUS. How in the HELL can you even claim the next Michael Jackson or PRINCE! Justin Bieber won't even come close to these two. He can't even be the next Rick Astley...lol

He just came on the scene a few years back, and he has not progressed into a recognizable feature. Outside of his "Baby...Baby..Ohhh Baby" he has not shown any mark of genius and "Baby...Baby..Ohhh Baby" is not even genius. I am mind blown by that statement...I can go straight uzi on Will for that. Maybe he feels that way after his Superbowl performance went straight DOWN the drain with the Black Eye Peas. LOL. Will needs to take a break! It seems like he is ONLY saying that because he is getting PAID working with JB. He no doubt is getting a lot money working with him. It makes me laugh now every time I read this!

WOW..What a statement of complete BS

hah! Will.i.am & Justin bieber

Inherently they know theres a clear distinction in what they do and what people like prince and mike do so yes they manufacture and uplift others to that level. The current modern singer is more malleable to Hip Hop deity, we live in a Hip Hop culture so rap stars feel they can also be king makers. Prince and Mike as a combined legacy are threatening to them, too big for them to claim equality with no matter how much money they make. Lil Wayne can say "im a true artist" but he cant jam with Prince, he can only run that shit by a generation that can download an ap and make beats with their phones.

No way on Earth is Bieber anything like MJ or Prince, William must be needing some free publicity so trying to strike up scandel by name dropping!

Not even half as good as Prince's "the internet is over and dead... but I m gonna use my band members FB pages to drop stuff... cos ya know its not me, its Andy and its Social Networking blah blah blah" Scandel!

I doubt P will be calling him any time soon to work on "Real music" after comparing him to Justin Bieber....

Neither of them are though, so.... lol you can shout it 'till the end of time, but at the end of the day, unproven allegations are unproven allegations and innocent until proven guilty still ring true.

I don't have to be a parent to know Michael Jackson was not a pedophile, and I only commented to you because your statement is flawed in view of the evidence. It is important for us to know which are and are not; obviously Michael Jackson was not because NO one that knew him found his association was within pedophilia. Everyone of those who 'alleged' he was; all were seen to be in it for the money. It's even recorded on tape; that many of the accusers were in it for the money. They took advantage over his charity and created a lie and the media OVER BLEW IT. Michael just loved children but never to a sexual extent, that isn't even visible...so I am just saying..

Also the children can't be harmed anyways seeing as it's been two years since he died. Mentioning previous allegations (to which he was acquitted from) only pisses on his grave to me.

BUT I am not going to comment further, this has nothing to do with Michael Jackson, which is why you bringing him up was wrong in the first place.

The closest Justin Beiber will ever be to Prince is the day he climbs the fence of Paisley Park and forces his way into the building!

The closest Justin beiber will ever be to Michael Jackson involves a shovel! lol

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

i admit my posts in this thread werent serious, but your blind fanboyism of mj has clouded your judgement. fine he wasnt convicted, but that whole out of court settlement is definitely a "dont fucking leave your children alone with this guy" red flag. why risk it?

Justin's only been around for 2-3 years. Will's saying he has the potential for career longevity.

I think he wants Justin to start taking chances because he's going to have to follow in Timberlake's shoes and transition the music into more adult themes, but at the same time, has to be careful to make them not too adult. It's a tightrope act he's going to have to walk in the next 5 years.

Being overrated has to do with the heaps of praise and hype they get. To me, U2 is an example of an overrated band. Especially from the mid 90s to now. All they have to do is put a new CD out and it gets awards. Bono takes his shades off on stage and he's being sincere. Edge hides his average guitar playing behind a wall of electronics.

If you have songs or favorite bands that you used to like back in the day, but makes you cringe or do violent things when you hear it, odds are, it's overrated.

And when the musicians themselves say they put out pure crap at the time and fess up to it years later, we all feel like suckers for buying into the hype.
