IMHO: Prince No Longer Cares About "Diehard" Fans...Right Now. Why should he care right now? All we ever do is dog him & wishes that he'd do what he used to do. Pleasing diehards won't make Prince a ton of $ at all right now [Which is why he mostly plays hits for the casual fans, not the diehards]. That's why we won't be getting any outtakes any time soon. He knows diehards would be the only ones looking forward to them, & that's not enough $. I'm not saying he won't ever again, But at the moment, we're screwed. الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

Look how the U2 fans are treated these months,
the re-release of "Achtung Baby" 20 years after the original release:

I do have to pass on that merch. Even given as a gift I would have to decline, only because I already have a Bible, it has been trust worthy but I do not have any bobble heads or pens or pencils or buttons. I have to buy things that I don't have. | |

those boxsets are usually rather expenssive to make, and noone are making big $$$$$$$$$ from them,
they are pleasing the fans, but the artists/ companies ain't making money,
that is maybe the reason Prince is holding back....

People are never gonna be pleased unless Prince decides to do a personal concert at each and every one of their houses.
That why they call them "fans" because it's short for fanatic.
If I was Prince, I wouldn't care either.
He doesn't owe the fans anything other than being conscious during his shows.
Especially for a fanbase that's as whiny and neurotic as his fanbase is. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!! | |

The past to Prince will never come up to NOW. I think he is simply focused on where he is now, he sees no purpose in visiting what was created long ago. He has spoken about how many "Review critics" always judge his work now; by his previous work; and he does not like that. So much in so; that he will not probably re-release those timeless albums that spoke to the genius of the man he really is.
Apart of me says he cares; while the other part says; he does not too much. He wants to make money, and he is- BY TOURING. He seems to have disqualified new releases, and I won't trust him on that one too long...But obviously he is in an overhaul of touring. He just plays, plays, plays..And while he is awesome for that. You can't help but wonder does that get tiring? I mean..I know he is music..but playing all the time seems so boring to me. I don't have the passion for it, so I can't relate to why he does it..But that is besides the point. Haha..

Now that his spirituality comes into a MAJOR part of this, I doubt he will..Well Probably so if the money was in abundance.. 
You just don't know what to expect from him..So I won't rule it out completely, but as far as the near future...that to me is just....

I think there's a very fine line between "caring" and "milking for money". U2 has unfortunately been in the Milking bussiness for some time now.
I know a lot of people care about deluxe-edition-King-James-type-Bible-ish releases (invented to battle downloads?), but God I hate all these extravagant box sets. Stick to the music! No sun glasses, no wooden panels, no oversized packaging. Just the music and make that come in spades.

Prince is one of the few remaining recording artists who's back catalogue hasn't been expanded. We're not asking for 45 different versions, just one for each album will do. | |

imo, he is one of the few artists that have albums that actually need remastering (albums '80 to '88). They don't need expanding, he can just release more Crystal Balls. | |

True ! So when it comes to live concert, he is obviously making money, this is a system that works fine (so far) and he is using it.
When it comes to selling music, goodies etc. He tried hard many times (npgmc, lotus flower, npg shop, 1800 new funk, crystall ball etc.) None of them survived… Not sure he made any good money.

remastering and expansion usually go hand in hand. and yes, they do need expanding because a lot of the early albums had songs that didn't make the final cut. you should seek out fan-made 'expanded' editions. they're usally the ones i pluck from the shelf, rather than the official releases.
The CB set was okay, but it didn't have any coherent logic to it. It was more a bundle of songs, and it was poorly excuted, imo. Still pleased that it came out, i should add | |
