Gotta love torrent sites lol

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Amazing performance.

Just love all the critics on this site. Would love to see anyone of them get up there and do it better.

Just watched the entire performance. My 2 cents:

1) Andy added nothing to it. She didnt sing like Tamar and we couldnt barely listen to the guitar. She is pretty, yes. But that was all.

2) Some technical problems happened, like the out of tune Tele - replaced by Strat and no sound on the mic (which Prince overcame with class).

3) One of the best versions of ´SHHH´. Prince was on fire and it sounded very spontaneous. Loved it.

4) The first songs were cool. I liked the first one introducing the band, like he did with ´The Jam´.

5) Love Ida and her bass part on DMSR.

6) John Blackwell was great as always.

7) Liked Prince´s guitar playing a lot and the keyboard player too.

[Edited 6/28/11 21:55pm]

For a non musician such as myself, can you explain your comment regarding the out of tune tele?

No, we can't do it better. Are we saying that?! Do you need to be better in order to be a critic? NO.

(however, I can play the guitar better than aldo wink )

Come on, dude. You're embarrassing yourself.

Gimme an example of when he played 'Rock Lobster' and when he played "Dr. Feelgood." The riff is the exact same every time!! lol

yeahthat BVH has gone quiet after your comment. Maybe he's trolling through his complete Prince bootleg collection to find an example of each.

To me, it sounds a bit like both (bordering more on the Rock Lobster side of things) but is neither... Don't hate me for having an opinion anyone lol

Naw, he'll be back. He always comes back.

You know, I think I must have been watching a different performance. Fr some reason, this reminded me of the Gold Experience tour and live performances... plus he seemed to be channeling Sly Stone.

I really enjoyed People Pleaser... but then I also enjoy Freaks On This Side. I think it is an enjoyable noise.

I also enjoy his 'lets-introduce-the-band' numbers... this one is a looser version of The Jam, sure, but pleasing... to this ear, anyway.

Whoever it was who posted earlier, you are right... it is 'so sexy'... 'so exciting' is Morris Day when he's talking about his brass waterbed. My bad.

I'm going to have to go and watch this performance again... just to see where I was so horribly wrong!

Dr Feelgood has that tiny progression or change in it's melody on the second time time the ascending phrase is played. So it seems like a two part thing, that concludes each time.

Rock Lobster has this more old school deliberate surfer pace and does not form a two part melody. It's just repeating the same phrase over. Like a robot.

Seems like Prince was quoting the latter in the distorted guitar style of the former, but it seems like it's musically Rock Lobster.

Yep. Still can't hear it, I'm afraid.

Technical problems aside, that's the most relaxed I've seen Prince in ages and one of the more enjoyable performances of late, too.

I do wish he would stop with the old songs if he's not going to perform them properly... but hey... they're not my songs.

Andy Allo has a long way to go before she's the finished article, but she has a good voice (for that song) and two guitars are always better than one.

In this performance, Andy seems as if she has no idea how a guitar works. She's either cluelessly parading around or making futile swipes around it. lol.

couple of things strike me about this performance:

1. the performances are very loose, almost as if Prince gave that instruction to be loose and make it a jam. compared to the last time he was on this show, it's sounds so much more fun. maybe that's why it "appears" that there are some mistakes. I heard a couple of wrong chords coming from Prince like at the start of Peach and even when he restarted Anotherholeinyohead.

2. What the hell is he wearing?

3. Andy Allo......not sure what happened there. Did her guitar break or something?

4. Morris and the other keyboard player (what's her name?) to me seem superfluous. She didn't add anything and sounded generic r+b to me. I'm sure she is great if she's playing with Prince but where is Renato?

5. Ida looked like she was under some stress but she sounded great.

6. Fab guitar solos. Best I've heard in a while from Prince.

I agree with everything. Don't want to be too negative: the guitar solos were indeed very nice! I just hope the band won't be that loose when I see them next week.

As with any live performance, there's the chance for little imperfections, but if the Europe shows are anything like the American shows...you won't be disappointed! wink

In NYC and LA I can remember a few issues with sound, but the band performs the shit outta the songs! It isn't as tight when he is performing with one of his special guests, because he isn't practicing with them as often as he has practiced with his core band.

Andy played with Prince once in the US. Don't know if she is being kept around as one of the NPG or just a guest for a one/more shows. If she sticks around, I'm confident Prince will put her to the test in rehersals to get her ready. Whether or not she can meet his or our expectations...time will tell!

I've never understood the need for Prince to have a "rhythm" guitarist in his bands. The Indigo2 nights were a perfect way of showing he can do all that on his own plus pound out some stunning solos.

If Andi is just another bit of eye candy to add to his band, she'd better start looking for alternative employment...

I just watched the performances of "People Pleaser" and "Peach". I LOVED them both! Prince was fire...as usual and Andy held on own singing on "People Pleaser". I like Andy's style....especially her hair! Just beautiful.

So did Wendy when she first appeared in the band.Wendy was bored on the Purple Rain tour. But she got better, So will Andy.

eye 'm really just talking about the vibe she brings 2 Prince. Andy makes him feel comfortable, He plays off of her. Just like Prince use 2 do with Wendy.

[Edited 6/28/11 19:52pm]

seriously are you on drugs? wendy MADE the purple rain tour! that's why prince didn't need to be on guitar every song in those days. could andy allo hold the band together if prince laid off guitar. could she fuck!!!

Um...that was Purple Rain, she wasn't very good with solos, but has become good. And after the intense practice sessions they had as well as play the same stuff every night, eventually you will be good.
