"Power Fantastic"

Boy! If only every moment of life could be like this song!

Can I get an amen from the congregation?

Dang it i just wrote the lyrics to fantastic power(just said the opposite of whatever the line was)

Like

Major A is the note of great pain
It will not be heard in this song

And

Early in the morning
As the people wake up
Down the hallwAy leaves something amusing
"Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

You lucky devil!

I just discovered this song today and I've been a fan since the 80's.

Does this song sound like a certain singer/songwriter that Prince greatly admired?

Where were you looking at in 1993 when it was officially released?

After really studying the detail and depth of the meaning and levels of attitudes it has spoken to me; since I have heard it for the first time 2 months ago; I think NOW I can say that it has earned the spot in one of my FAVORITE SONGS EVER!. Lol. I don't think I am too early to say it's one of my favorites either.. It's genius! The lyrics speak to me in so many levels, it's for sure one of his best compositions; in my opinion.

It's Button Therapy, Baby!

Power Fantastic was recorded mid March 1985
a song based on a composition by Lisa Coleman called "Carousel"
according to engineer Susan Rogers
Prince sang in a corner of the room

the whole Revolution recorded this song, when Prince want to test his new

home studio.
It was some of the most intimate experience of her career:
She felt at the very center of artistic creation
Eric Leed, who played a lilting flute solo
walked out of the studio feeling goose bumps
"That's one of the greatest things we ever did," he remembered

Susan Rogers noted this song was "Nailed in one take"

Power Fantastic was supposed to be one
of the cornerstones of Prince & the Revolutions
next project the Dream Factory

Power Fantastic

Late at night when the world's a-sleepin'
U are frightened cuz the power's creepin'
In your room, it's something U're afraid of
Life of doom is what this feeling's made of

Power fantastic is in your life at last
U're a little apprehensive
Cuz what it is, is what U want and need

Minor G is the chord of pleasure
It will be played 11 measures
U will see fire, but U're cool as ice
U are a liar, huh, if U say this isn't nice Power fantastic is in your life at last
U're a little apprehensive
What it is, is what U want and need Power, power Power fantastic is in your life at last
U're a wee bit apprehensive
Cuz what it is, is what U want and need Power, power
A power fantastic

cool One of my fave tracks of all time.

What is interesting, anytime I have played this to my boyfriend, family, or friends they HATE it. A couple friends who are minor Prince fans sort of like it. But the rest yell anytime I try to play it in my car or it comes on my ipod at dinner or when people are over. Have never been able to figure that one out.

Something must be wrong with me... I feel totally ambivalent about this song. No matter how many times I listen to it it just doesn't take me boxed Maybe someday I'll have an epiphany... it took me awhile to get on board with 'Adore'.

Nothings wrong with you.

It sounds musically like a Joni Mitchell type of arrangement from my viewpoint. Vocally its beautiful going from his falsetto to lower register so effortlessly.
