What's missing for me at W2A Concerts...

Prince’s look and style is as equally important as the music he creates. He’s doing these Hit driven shows, but what would just send me over top, is if he were to do chronological concert and pull out some of the outfits he made famous.

I would like for him to perform the hits starting with “Prince” and working his way up to now, changing into outfits from each era. As soon as he walks out, you know what you’re going to hear, but with new flavor. Young folks that never got to experience this, could get a sense of what it was like and for us old timers, well, that would just put a big smile on my face.

I’m not asking 50 yr old Prince to come out in Bikini underwear, but I would like for him to pull out the trench coats, the bandana, the pants with the buttons down the side, the tuxedo shirt, the white ruffled shirt, the paisley jump suits, the mid-drift and bell bottoms or the yellow suit, the peach and black, the name written on his thigh, well you get it. There just some iconic Prince clothing that we can all identify with. All in the name of FUN!!

He still looks the same and can easily pull it off!! Come on Prince, you can do this!

This isn't the young, wild Prince, this is an older, more laid back Prince. If he brought back the ruffles and such, it would seem forced.

I don't think so....it could be fun if it were set up as such...and that's to do the songs in chronolical order.

I see what you're getting at but think of it this way: Would you wanna wear the same clothes you were rockin' in the 80's?

I don't think he'll come back to that, he's gotten older and I doubt he'll try it anyway. It's expected that as one get older, they act more reserved especially with their wardrobe when they were usually known for their flamboyance. Even David Bowie stopped dressing very flamboyantly at the end of the '80s.

The nonstop energy of a Prince show is one of the things that makes Prince so great. Or at least it does when he actually plays his own music nonstop and doesn't send Shelby out to butcher a few songs. Anyway, break that energy up with ten costume changes at it's going to be The Monster Ball minus the sets and dancers, and nobody is going to pay for that.

i disagree. and so does prince. he would neeevver do that.

besides, his clothing isnt the only part of his looks. especially not back then. he couldnt pull off all those looks in one show because of his hair length and all the different ways his face is made up.

and you know wigs wouldnt cut it.

Only if you wear what you wore in the 80's. Even though some of the 80's looks are back-there is a twist on it-so it doesn't seem so dated. I wouldn't wear what I wore in the 80's now.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Your not being realist here. Not being sarcastic, but how long have you been a Prince fan.

We did a thread here a year ago about Prince & the ruffled shirts, Prince has been wearing them from 1999 - 2011 He is wearing silk ruffled shirts at the W2A shows... where have U been?

When has he not worn trench coats? Prince especially during the European 20Ten shows has worn lace, sleeveless trenches ruffled shirts, ripped his shirt open during shows, spray painted his name on the kick drum ala Dirty Mind

Once Prince started working about again he started showing more skin, look at all the fotos from the Euro 20Ten shows,

And when did Michael act more reserved with his wardrobe or Madonna... these people are regular joes their superstars

His clothing is a big part of it, it reflects the music not the time period. There are easily certain things he could wear from each era that would flow easily.

I don't understand when other people just assume PRince was half naked all over the 1980's He actually started wear a whole lot more clothing during the Controversy years and up

Nah, no. He is still flamboyant.

I love and adore his style.. now and then. heart

... good point, I think the guitar switches he makes have a this era or that era feel to it. For example: the guitar above is played during Controversy, Little Red Corvette and Uptown a lot, if I remember correctly
