On Purple Rain, I don't really like Let's Go Crazy that much. It's a great opener, but I still don't really like it, and I figure when there's only 9 songs on an album, there's no room for even a single weak spot. I also don't think the album has aged well.. it sounds very, very 80s.

Controversy would easily be a 10, except I really dislike "Annie Christian" and "Ronnie Talk To Russia". And again, the album's too short for weak spots. I love all the other songs a lot, though.

Dirty Mind is far too short, and pretty weak lyrically (even by Prince's standards). He tries too hard to be shocking rather than write a good song ("Sister", "Head"). Musically, it a 10, though.

Had Prince included the B-Sides to his singles on his albums, I'd probably rate most of his albums higher. Purple Rain, for example, would've been much stronger with "Erotic City" and "17 Days"...

fair enough. Usually when i dont like 2 songs on an album, i lower the rating by 1. I'd give Controversy an 8 personally, the political stuff decreases it by one point but i like/love the rest of the songs

I also think that sometimes an album deserves extra points. For example Sott, is more of a 9 for me, but i give it a 9.5 because of its amazing versatility.

1999- i dont like three songs here, so its more an 8.5 but the best stuff is so outrageously good, and experimental stuff is amazing too (something in the water, lady cab driver) that i have no hesitiation in giving it a 9. Dirty Mind- i'd give it a 9 too for being one of the most groundbreaking albums in recent music history.

admittedly i havent listened to atwiad, lovesexy and black album several times (just a few times) so maybe they'll grow on me

You could say that about almost all Prince albums, the thing is I don't mind that.
