Maybe some of you remember a thread from me from October 2009.....

When I was in Paris, there was a Lotusflow3r advertisement/small billboard in the 'Virgin Music Store' in Paris, promoting the very special French Lotusflow3r release.

A big part from the advertisement was covered but the message was still readable:

It said something about a DVD & Blu Ray disc included in the Lotusflow3r album.......

In this case probably the 'revisted Lotusflow3r-version' of the 3121 Movie.

I'm guessing Prince just approached the project much like he does others - by pulling shit outta his ass. As far as we can all tell, Prince rarely ever carefully plans his endeavors be they albums or movies. And as with the Rainbow Children documentary, he likely just started the production and then just wanted to fill it in with whatever was going on in his life at the time. We see a scripted part with Chelsea Rodgers, but that's about it. None of it even makes much sense and that's not likely done on purpose - it likely never made much sense.

If you look at all the bits we have seen and the music included, this collaboration spaned 4 albums.

"A Million Days" - Musicology

3121 "The Movie" is obvious.

"Guitar" - Planet Earth

and it was all repurposed for Lotus Flower.

All that time and work for a shelved project. With all the players involved though, I'm not sure this one could be pinned all on Prince. There was probably studio money in it, artists that probably did not get paid, legal wrangling because by the time he tried to release it, his album release schizophrenia had cut off multiple studios...well, maybe it WAS all him, but I tried to think positively about it.

just why is everyone excited about this?. Just looks like another vanity project with a laughable / muddled 'script' that got the correct verdict from those who've seen it i.e. 'we don't get it'!!. Who cares really, he has a tonne of this stuff in the vaults already, i'd rather have 1 top drawer new album , classic gigs released on Blue Ray or remasters etc rather than dull videos for mostly average songs.

Come on folks, get real!.

We're not sure exactly what it is right now. Anything is better than nothing.

I don't care about a script or storyline if it's showing him playing in the studio, on stage, hanging out, whatever, that makes it worthwhile to me. Just those short clips on the guitar and drums were cool and I'd like to see more of that, plus The Dance & The Word videos.

It's not like The Undertaker and all the other 'music movies', all have great storylines or scripts, but there's great music to make up for it and watching him is entertaining, even when he's being corny. He can make me laugh just with an expression, and even make me think 'oh god, Prince...wha?', then floor me while playing or singing, that's FUN & ENTERTAINING.
