Prince and children

I have wondered why Prince doesn't have any children. From everything I have read, he and Maytie were very happy that she was expecting. And when I recently watched an interview they had done not too long after the baby died, he seemed heartbroken, though he was keeping a stiff upper lip.

Sorry. Was my post offensive in some way? I didn't mean it to be. Maybe I haven't yet gotten a sense of what is or is not acceptable to write here. But I have to say, I have found some of the very uncomplimentary things that get said here about Prince to be pretty offensive. I thought this was a fansite...??

Some things should be off limits: like children and tragedy dont you think? Just becausen its a fansite shouldnt inhibit responsibility. I mean damn what do you hope to get from this? Your original post states it all. I mean what are you, 12?

Actually, many people have children after losing one. And are even more keen to have them. I don't think it's necessary to insult someone to make a point. I was just asking a question. And as I said in my previous post, I think the many comments about (for instance) Prince jerking off, etc. are far more offensive than my question was. I think the intentions of the questioner need to be taken into account. But I'm very sorry that I have spoiled your day.

I wondered about this in part because he obviously enjoys being around children. I saw the announcement of the New York shows in which he encouraged people to bring their children.

No you didn't. You just want to gossip and start shit. Your original post shows that. You just said what you said NOW for attempted rationalization.

It doesn't sound like the OP is 12. It sounds like they're new, which they are.

strmn, you're already starting to get a feel for this site and you'll understand more the longer you spend time here. It's not your usual fansite wink

As for your question, this topic is generally considered off-limits because of the tragedy you mention and because, of all things that probably aren't any of our business (but we discuss anyway), this one surely tops the list and thus it, at least, is usually respected. Perhaps more importantly, these discussions can go badly awry and end up with things being said that would be very painful for certain people to read (if they indeed do ever happen to visit the site).

The only thing I'll say concerning the topic is to bear in mind that there is a big difference between wanting children and having children - we'd love for these two things to always coincide, but sometimes it just doesn't work that way.

Sorry to see that you got off to a rocky start here, but perhaps jump into a few existing discussions while you get more familiar with the site and that will give you more of an idea of what topics are off-limits and which are fine, what have already been talked about recently (or often), etc...

Yeah, this isn't the first time the question came up but it is generally off limits because it is very personal smile Who knows but welcome to the site smile You might find some people that will go off on you so be careful, they're tough here wink

Strmn, I've been a member for about 6 years and usually only post on threads that I believe can generate interesting conversation. I don't believe your question was in bad taste at all and you've definately come to the right place to find out about a man you're obviously interested in both musically and personally.

I've seen posts that I actually believe are in bad taste, such as people giving aerial shots and direct instructions of how to get to Prince's house (just a tad stalkerish). Just ignore the negative people and wade through their shite and you will end up finding some decent responses to legitimate posts.

There was an interesting article I read once (but I cannot locate after searching for it) where Carlos Santana said that all Prince needs to do now is have children and it upset him that he hasn't done so. Prince must have read this and Carlos is a good friend/luminary of his.

My own personal opinion... I haven't given it much thought until now, but his story does make me feel sad but I believe he still will have children. There's plenty of time. David Jason (a famous British actor) didn't have his first child until he was 61 as he focussed on his career first.

Hope I've made you feel more positive about your future posts biggrin

Maybe he can't. Maybe after the loss of his firstborn he has decided "enough if that"
Maybe he's busy with his career and realizes he can't give 100% to both and is unwilling to half step. (when has Prince half step anything).
The point is no one here knows gir sure or if they do they haven't given a hint.
Their baby died of a congenital condition that is suppose to be inherited gene.
shrug who really knows so far Ptonce nor either of his ex wives have children. So really who knows.

You almost can't ask anything on here that doesn't tickle Prince's scrotum, some people go nuts! It's ridiculous! they'll call you a "troll" and say your "trying to start shit". Ignore them. It's a valid question.

Wrong. There's a line drawn on this site when it comes to what is or isn't appropriate and the vast majority agree to respect these rules. You can either play along and respect the rules or you can GTFO.

Of course I have no clue why Prince doesn't have any children. I can only assume and I won't do that. I just know that having children just for the sake of having children is the wrong thing to do. I don't have any and I've been asked countless times, why not. Well, the big reason is I'm not in a committed relationship and I don't want to have a child with someone I don't love. Also, I honestly don't have the time, patience or desire to have a child right now. And having one to please other people (who won't be responsible for the child once it's here) or just because that's what I'm supposed to do, is not for me. I was in love at one point and actually wanted children. That time in my life is gone and it may never return. I wonder why people can't seem to relate to that or at least respect it?

Things like this should be left in God's hands only he knows why and why not. It is extremely personal and if you have never lost a child it is hard to understand the effects it has on the parents of the child lost. This kind of topic should be left to the people having the kid(s) and God.

Yeah Prince is a public figure so he expects his life to be talked about to some degree. I think the "is prince gonna have more children?" question is brought up because people immediately shut it down like in this thread. Like you can't stop people from being curious and shit all they're asking for is an opinion and people know A LOT about Prince here and other VERY PRIVATE matters have been discussed so I don't see how this is different.

where in the rules does is say "don't say anything about Prince's baby or him having children" ?

You can hide behind "political correctness" nonsense, but your still a bully, and like someone else said, there are even directions to the mans house on here for goodness sakes! So stop acting like theres no inappropriateness tolerated- and speaking of trolls, geessshhh, are you trolling every single post 24/7?! !

Frankly, I don't yet see why some people found raising the topic in the way I did offensive. I would understand entirely if I had made some sarcastic remark or mocking joke about the loss of their child, but I didn't. People on this site seem to know so much about him that I thought someone might know something about this. I actually feel that my initial post in this thread was compassionate, if anything. In any event, I will hazard to say that when I saw the segments of the Muppets shows Prince taped years ago, I thought that he seemed like he was really having fun and must really enjoy being with kids, acting like a kid, and so on. And I don't think saying so here is offensive or inappropriate.
