If they had the same dad (or the same mom), each would be Prince's "half brother". Step brothers have no blood relation, just related thru marriage.

As far as I have read and heard, Mattie Shaw and John Nelson had 2 children, Prince and his sister Tyka. The others are half sibling or step siblings.

My condolences to the entire Nelson family & friends.

I hope him and Prince were friendlier lately, since Prince was kind of hard on him back in the day.

These 2 things were sent to me, thought it'd be nice to share...food for thought! Prince deserves our upmost respect, love, and support. GOD Bless him and the entire Nelson family. Those touched by Duane will cherish the memories forever!

Sadly I counted the passing of 5 family members that Prince has experienced. Dad, Mom, Stepdad, Baby Son, and Brother.

Prince is a strong wonderful man. He has endured alot. Tyka is the one who shares with us these events. Prince is more silent. I feel it is important to keep in mind the events of his life, and those who criticize him for not being perfect might stop and remember who he really is.

Prince and Tyka are in my thoughts and prayers.

This is where there's proof that Music transcends the Soul....we were all drawn to and continue to feel an emotional connection to Prince yet he isn't truly close to us as in our friends and family. He is a man that some/most have never met, yet have followed all our lives. So why have we grown up with him and feel his pain as surely we feel his joy? ...thru the music he transmits God's blessings that is as close to our hearts as a whisper is to the ears. Please bless Prince and all who love him.

According to Star Trib journalist, Jon Bream, Duane and Prince were step-brothers. John Nelson married Duane's mom and adopted Duane. Duane's mom died when he was a young teenager and thereafter John Nelson continued to raise Duane.
