Why Is Work It 2.0 Considered Better Than The Work?

I just started listening to the first of Work It 2.0 and so far I can't see (or hear!) why it is better quality than The Work collection! The sound so far is horrible. Why do people rave about this collection?! It isn't any better than The Work! confused Not that I am complaining about hearing these songs--but I can't really hear what people rave about over the previous collection!

i honestly feel work it 2.0 has better quality. I just listened to Lisa from both the work and work it 2.0 and work it 2.0 sounds better to me

Plus the work it 2.0 stuff is in chronological order

I'll listen to it again tomorrow--just not feling it tonight. Chronological order is a plus. But it still isn't measuring up to the rave reviews so far... But I'll keep listening. Thanks! wink

You mention that you have just started listening to the first of it.

I'm sure you are aware when those recordings date from and the fact that some of them were recorded on what seems like a crappy tape recorder?

Give it a chance, it is 34 discs, finding better quality recordings for all that would be almost impossible.

If, by the end of the 34th disc, you feel that it is no better than The Work, then so be it.

wink

work it was compiled after the work, and since the release of the work better quality copies of some tracks had surfaced, plus better audio editing/cleaning technology. not all tracks sound notably different, in fact probably most will sound about the same. the stuff at the very start is some of the poorest sound quality because it was recorded on a tape deck with an accoustic guitar 35 years ago

and since work it there have been a number of improvements in quality of tracks from that set, plus some other tracks that weren't widely circulating at the time, plus further improvements in sound editing software and people having more experience in using software to improve sound

But, wasn't The Work also upgraded in a sorta 2.0 or whatever else, as some time passed away ?

The original owner/distributor had said a few times that it will be updated when new/better source surfaced.

For the most part, agreed with purplethunder3121. I think the rave review about Work It result from the feud, 'Lib-bashing' which also came from 'Who's got better source', 'Which is not MP3 sourced',etc.. That's why The Work wasn't well responded to by agitators in the prince community.

In my humble opinion, The current Work It 2.0 has had it as well.

The better improvements & new sources is out there, compared to the ones on Work It 2.0.

For now it's time to get it update in 2.5/3.0 with partial substitution.

I know absolutely nothing about any such "feud." I've heard both, I think Work It (for the most part) sounds better. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Quite often I can't decide if people are DEAF or they're simply DUMB.

BTW, the original author of Work It said after updating V2.0 that there would never be a new version of Work It.

But, OK, if you like that fucking The Work better, so be it. Why even start a thread? Especially if you have only listened to a few tracks.

Boredom is a terrible thing.

True, there was a huge backlash against "Liberation" who was compiling The Work 2.0, which I have directly from him on cdr from years ago.

There's also a backlash against Sabotage the bootleg company that released pro cd disc sets with cases and pro printed artwork all these years, because the current trend if FREE trading! (I can't argue against free).

Of course even since Work It 2.0, there are have been better versions of the same tracks released. Which was first? Chocolate Box (the new one from last year) or Work It 2.0?

^^By 'The Work 2.0' I guess you're referring to 'The Work - Enhanced Edition', which is a load of crap as well.

At First, Libby shared terrible versions of many tracks and when he saw other people were releasing the same in a much better quality then he 'decided' to share his better copies.

Even so, The Work Enhanced Edition is poor and it suffers from the same illness: the order of tracks is chaotic. Not a bit of respect for chronology.

No wonder he has sorta 'disappeared' and just appears every now and then on that fucking G101 thing.

Work It 2.0 came out before Box O Chocolates, so BOC has the superior quality redundant tracks. I've heard on more than one occasion that the "Enhanced" The Work internet volumes are lossy-sourced and then upped as WAVs, though I can't confirm this.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yeah, but it's all some people have. I know that place can be ripe with malware alerts on occasion, so folks need to be very proactive about their PCs protection software status.

I feel that openly speaking or referencing, even acronyms, about something of that nature in a place where Prince has people reading is really imprudent. If you want what's yours, keep your mouth quiet when you're talking about bootlegs around Prince and his people.

34 discs, 8 volumes, split into 4 discs per volume, except vol 1 which has 6 discs.

Vol 8 ends at the year 2000.

it's a forum where richard dower hasn't yet been banned from, and where shite sounding mp3's are downloaded from rapidshite by people who listen to music on mp3 players bought from argos using headphones they got for free from richer sounds using coupons they cut out from newspapers, and if there isn't a load of replies featuring umpteen gifs and smileys within half a day of the OP posting, they will have a fucking strop, delete the download links, threaten to never post anything again and a week later upload some shite they've fucked about with on soundforge for a week, that originated from a perfectly good sounding bootleg, and included some artwork gratefuly donated by the second grade kids from the local blind school who have been taught to use the demo version of paintshop pro 4.3 from a covermount cd from pc shopper magazine circa may 1998
