Anyone ever send Prince a letter to Paisley Park?

My girlfriend and I used to write him letters and send them certified mail so he would have to sign for them- he never did though, they slip always came back signed by some woman smile

Just wondering if anyone ever wrote him and got a response or knew of anyone who did?

T explained on amp that they (= staff) threw those out. Sometimes they read them, just to get a laugh.

T is a dude named Tim that used to work there and stole a bunch of outtakes, and he's been selling them for years and years.

"AMP" is the old UseNet group Alt.Music.Prince.

My daughter sent Prince and the band thank-you letters after she sang onstage with them in San Antonio. We never got a response, but we didn't ask for one, either.

Thanks for clearing that up! I never heard of this Tim person, I bet Prince sued his pants off!

There are plenty of stories about Tim, and I just started an amp thread, where I bet a bunch of them will be told.

I don't know if it was "stealing" as much as copying cd's or tapes that were out there outside of the studio in co-worker's homes, paisley related girls had, etc.

Did you think he walked in lthe vault like a burgler? He never worked in the studio as far as I know. And I kind of know him.

I once sent a complaint email about the lack of good new Prince music being distributed by the (original) NPG Music Club. I got back an email from Prince written in his crazy rebus script. It didn’t make much sense and I can’t remember it all, but it ended with something like “eye don’t want U anyway”. At least I think it was from Prince, obviously I can’t be sure, but I can’t imagine he was actually paying people to send out anything that wacky.

And years later I still go to see him play live.

I once sent to Paisley Park:

Two copies of our self made Prince-Fanzine: "Free".

Made by 4 guys in Denmark (David Dyhr; Alex Mingolla; Nicolai Willumsgaard; Bo Egstrup).

It was in october 1998.

We never got any response back from Prince, but I hope he liked those articles.

If any of you wanna read it:

1. Meet & Greet Prince before the show in Valby Hallen, Copenhagen 1998.

2. Interview with half of the NPG at hotel SAS Royal 1998.

3. "Behind the lines", an experience backstage right before the concert in Valby Hallen 1998.

Way back in the 80s I sent a couple letters and did get one response back from Karen Krattinger, who was Paisley Park's general manager at the time.

For many years now though unsolicited letters to Prince and/or Paisley just get chucked in the bin, unopened and unread.

Why Prince would even bother to receive thousands of mail from fans? It's very time-consuming even if some1 else has to sort everything out. It's a pile of unknown and possibly dangerous garbage, IMO.

In 1993, I walked into Paisley Park and up to the desk. I simply asked if I could look around as I had come from the UK. They said no, but P and the band were in the atruim and Prince took the piss out of my accent. So I asked him (in a jokey manner) why he hadn't replied to all my letters, written in my own blood. We had a bit of a laugh and he said for a minute he thought I was one of the stalker types who send stuff in like cards and cakes all the time.

So he must read some!

I haven't sent anything to Paisley Park, but I sent a letter to his fan club back in 84 and I received a fan club post card.
