Soul superstar PRINCE thrilled holidaymakers in the Turks and Caicos Islands on New Year's Eve (31Dec10) by putting on an impromptu show as the clock struck midnight.

The Purple Rain hitmaker spent the holiday weekend on vacation at the sun-soaked Amanyara resort, with members of his band.

And when the time came to ring in 2011, the singer delighted fellow guests by playing a short set to see in the new year.

A source tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "Prince is a regular guest at the resort and was staying with his band. He got up at midnight and did an impromptu session of three songs, including 1999."

It would not have occured to some orgers that P might have be in Turks and Caicos for fun and sun. God forbid he should take a break.

When you've watched Purple Rain as often as I have, you notice the little things. lol

Omg, Nancy...Now I've got to put the darned movie in to check. For some reason I always thought it was the Nacho Cheese Doritos (probably my mistake since Nacho cheese is my favorite). hmmm lol

Was it a yellow bag? I don't feel like looking for my dvd. Can someone confirm this?

I'm pretty sure it was a yellow bag.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Hi all,

I was the DJ at the New Years Eve party where Prince and his band played.

It was at Amanyara Resort in Turks and Caicos where Prince stays frequently. It is very private, exclusive location. The party was only for the guests of the resort and there were about 150 people there. They flew me -- plus a band down from NYC and Chicago to play for New Years Eve.

Prince and his band played "1999" and the guests were absolutely shocked. They had no idea. He and his band did it just for fun. We only found out he was going to play (right after midnight and the fireworks display) when we arrived that morning for sound check.

Just after the fireworks, Prince emerged from the shadows of the palm trees, strapped on his guitar, turned around and began playing. You can imagine the look on everyone's faces as they realized what they were seeing!

The New York band flew back on the same plane as Prince's singer Shelby J. who is really sweet and is a great singer and entertainer. She really roused the crowd. She's a very cool lady.

Just wanted to let everyone know what was the real deal New Years. Prince stayed until very late enjoying the evening and was also hanging out the next morning. He was very cool and relaxed and seemed very nice.

Best regards to all and Happy New Year!

Like pure "Amazing Grace," The Silver lining of the soul!

Can we get 2gether
To talk about everything?
We can talk about all of our dreams
Better yet darling...
We can talk about sleeping in.~0ne
