prince's dancing

I was just wondering which dance moves/performance tricks Prince has added or abandoned in the last 10 years (apart from ditching the splits and humping his mic stand, of course!)? I know he's 52 but I think the reason a few people are jaded here is the fact that unlike the past where he had a new look and seemed to evolve as a musician/singer/performer with each album, he seems to have been treading water for the last decade in his dancing, set-lists and look for the most part.

The reason people are jaded here is because the net was invented so people can post their unreasonable expectations about an aged pop star 25 years plus into his career. Which says alot about them, not his dancing lmao.

Other than the splits, I'd peg Prince simply as historically having a sexy, organic style. He simply feels the music and interprets it. He always looked very sexy dancing to the music, where Michael Jackson (though quite famous for his movies) looked just plain comical.

But seeing Prince dance now is often cringe worthy. It's like watching grandpa try to be cool.

VERY strange, how MJ seems to come into a thread COMPLETELY about Prince. Obsessed with MJ much?

Some Prince fans are insecure with their own artist. I mean really, I've never even HEARD of someone insulting MJs dancing.

We are all prince fans here, but I do have to agree. Now that's get back on topic before this gets locked.

I'm going to have nightmares. That image popping into my mind is like reliving the very worst parts of the 80s all over again. C-R-E-E-P-Y

I think Prince has always been un underrated dancer. I thought his lipsynced Gold Experience dance routine during the 1995 AMA (I think it was 95) was spectacular. Especially the part when BillyJackBitch kicks in.

I wonder if MJ actually thought his dance moves were sexy. hmmm It would be kind of like a Albatross thinking it could gracefully skip. lol

yes when prince moves its sensual and sexy. he's got such a mesmerizing flow and rhythm that he can work that body!! i don't wanna see a creepy black guy that cut off his nose and bleached his skin paler then me touch himself.

boxed i mean i have a few songs of his on my ipod cause i remember trying to do the dances when i was like 5 but otherwise i never got the" hehe and shamon" thing and thought he was overrated and prince is way underrated boxed

although i did watch the living with mj and did feel a little sorry for him cause he seemed misunderstood and lonely and in his own little dream world..... boxed

don't kill me boo

Prince had a really interesting style but I can't see him at 52 executing them, although it would be fantastic to see hit the splits one more time cool I've always seen his dancing as "in the moment", where he's just kinda letting the music move him

I wouldn't rank him higher than James Brown, Michael, or The Nicholas Brothers, but he's still a great dancer

I agree nod Watching performances like the Arsenio '91 or the legendary Syracuse show from '85, that was just him going with the flow and still spectacular

I don't know why MJ always has to be brought up in these discussions!confused Leave Mike outta this

Prince is a great dancer and his talent can stand on it's own without putting down others to make him look better. It's not necessary.

Anyway, I've always loved Prince as a dancer and felt that he doesn't get enough credit for it.

The man's shuffle glide (some call it "The James Brown") is IMMACULATE

you really gotta check out the Girls and Boys scene from Under The Cherry Moon or Kiss to really understand

It's equally baffling to see MJ fans assume that people are insecure Prince fans just because we see how obviously creepy MJ is.

I mean, MJ creeps me out, but so does Gary Glitter. Does being creeped out by Gary Glitter make me an insecure Prince fan? lol

Really silly conjecture. The fact that we find MJ creepy doesn't make us insecure...it makes MJ creepy. rolleyes

I absolutely love Prince's dancing from the Graffiti Bridge years all the way to his Gold Experience years. He just felt the music and moved his body real funky. It wasn't so much theatrics but more just feeling the rhythm.
