I'm not positive, but I don't think there's anything on there that I haven't had for many years. However, I love those tracks, so I'm sure it's fabulous! nod

I love all the Parade tracks. The Face Down remixes are good too, amd i really like the extended America.

The Gett Off Damn Near 10 Mins Mix is another highlight for me.

the Beautiful extended club mix always has skips in it, no matter how many times I come across this hoping that it has no errors.

the point of the set is to have stuff on there that isn't easily (or at all) available on CD.

yeah, I know. and there's a lot of empty space at the end of one or two of those earlier discs as well.

Mmm, my version of that track is fine, it's my Gett Off Damn Near........ that has a skip, about 30 seconds from the end of the track, so no biggy, still slightly annoying though.

When this set came out, T charged a mint for it. He used to sell CDs for 20 bucks a pop, even multiple disc sets for 60 bucks, etc. T's material got "stolen" and used for things most notably the awesome triple threat release of Fantasia, Deposition, and Dreams. T released Preposition, a reworking of Deposition with supposedly better sounding files. I never picked that up as I had Deposition and was more than satisfied.

However, I did pick this set up years afterwards and it still stands the test of time as the best quality of these songs out there, period. The only way to improve on this stuff is to officially remaster it (assuming they get some pros to do it).

Incidentally - The copy of "Electric Intercourse" that is popularly circulating with edited vocal cues and such (it was taken from the rehearsal version) is a cleaned up, pristine copy of the track which P produced at my request. It was one of the only times he ever took requests, much less actually honored them.

It should be noted that T intentionally reversed the stereo channels on some of these tracks as some sort of lame "marker." As great as they may sound, I don't really approve of tampering like that.

This is true. He did a lot of this stuff to a lot of tracks. I remember he even put a marker in a 30 second clip of a stereo, pristine quality segment of Computer Blue. WTF? lol.... The dude was totally fucking delusional when it came to Prince music, like most people who have stuff that isn't widely circulating.

these people do have a very weird mentality. they didn't create it. they don't "own" it. they're just lucky or devious enough to have a tape and they just like to lord it over everyone. at one time, there was an opportunity to make money off of it. those days are long over. i really don't see the point in keeping it from the rest of the fan base, and then talking about it. it's just an ego trip. if they have it and I can't hear it, why would I personally care that they have it?

Sadly, someone is still making money from this, and other releases, the OP paid quite a bit for this set. neutral

Yeah, a lot of these releases are being sold for quite high sums on ioffer, that site is crawling with them, and from what i noticed approx 90% of those being sold are cd-r's, with no artwork.

People are downloading stuff for free and making $. Even the free label stuff is being sold....crazy.

It really sticks in my throat.

However, that is another topic.

Really cool that people are still hearing some of this stuff (possibly) for the first time. Really sad that it's still being sold for large sums of money. It's all easily found for free, so unless you want a shiny plastic cover there really isn't a need to pay for it.
