WOW! "Vicki Waiting" gets the PARTY started!!

big grin I played this song at a little group party 2 C how people would react (U know, me being 19 & in the generation of: "You like Prince? WTF??? hmm" )
Do U know that the song got every1 up & jamming? booty!.
I was standing over 2 the side watching everyone like eek.
Needless 2 say, this party turned from Missy Elliot, TLC & Nelly & LLCoolJ in2 PRINCE!!!

& I wound up playing alotta Prince songs mixed up w/ "now" songs...good grief!! lol
Prince baby, B proud of me!

That's great!

You mention kids around 19 or so are kind of appalled about fellow peers digging Prince?

How so, I mean is that a common view, that Prince is not hip anymore or something.

If so, the (coporate re-introduced) label "Old School" does a little damage to kids view of amazing artists.

Interesting.

Prince never was "hip" 2 a few people I knew. He was gay, weird, wack, old as hell or dead. I held it down for him though and got some of them interested (the one's w/ openminds), not turned in2 a fan or fam but interested in how much music he made & what different sounds he has...alot them automatically noticed that The Neptunes sounded like his music
Like I said: Prince baby, be proud of ya gurl! cool

It's not surprising really. When all they know is Nelly, Missy Elliot, TLC, etc. if you throw some Prince on and they aren't familiar with it you'll get some funky faces! Prince can easily outfunk any of those mentioned above!

I'm 16 and i know exactly what cherrie means there are so few fans our sorta age out there we in our own league...

no one seems to appreciate good music anymore its all pap pop and dance music... my mates are less open minded though and think hes gay and that his music crap but theyve never heard it.

Well actually they have heard it jus they didnt know it was him and they thought how great it was... headbang rock on cherrie we a dying breed
JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

Interesting.

When I was 16-19, I met a lot of hostility towards Prince. But that was from the Stoners and Metal Heads.

Just keep on keeping!

The single most irritating reason that people say they don't like Prince has got to be the gay thing.
He's not gay but if he was, who gives a rat's ass?!?
When people say "You like him?! Isn't he gay?", do they Xpect me to go "Oh my gosh! He is isn't he?! I don't like him after all!" ?!?
Bottom line is: if you purposely don't listen to someone's music because of their sexual preference, then I'm sorry...you are an idiot.

Image nowadays speaks louder than words sorry to say with Kids coming along today.when I was 16-19 there were Folks who dug Prince&then there were others who didn't care for Him but they always gave you a Legit reason of just saying He is gay.I Mean that is Narrow-Minded&if they knew how many people in that Business truly were gay they would flip there Wigs in a Heartbeat in shock.but it's cool you turned them on to one of Prince's tighest Hook Jams.I dig the Hook in that Jam still.

That's real cool cherrie.

I work as a DJ here in Ireland and play all kinds of funk soul and RnB but whenever I play the more commercial clubs I always drop 'i wanna be your lover' into my set - it's amazing how so many people just groove to that tune - I've had tons of young girls come up and say sh*t, whats that new hot tune - I'm like 'yo that was hot in 1978 girl!!'

It's amazing how so much of his work has stood the test of time

keep on funkin
